Sorry, no funny Cheez option in the poll.

*SEMI-SERIOUS CONTENT*
Alright in Soviet Russia the United States, these are two factors that often seem to be causes of premature death. Due to recent discussions in D&ST, I began to wonder if a country could get rid of and totally enforce a ban on one of the choices, which would it be? Don't simply click your favorite, but try to do that thing where your brain does...stuff........think, that's it!

I voted for Firearms, but I think I would actually rather alcoholic beverages simply because when you get pissed..
It is shit fun.
But also on a serious note, I think Firearms are more dangerous because they cause death instantly, but alcohol, not really.

Neither, why should the government tell you what you can and can't do, such as drinking. Let those who want to drink drink. And as far as firearms is concerned, it is a hobby many people enjoy doing. As long as it's not careless or harmful on others, I think people should still have their right to a weapon. Those who abuse it, provoke their privileges.

Banning alcholic beverages in Ireland would cause civil war.

yes yes i know what it means, thats the actual definition, but from what i've seen on street corners in Northampton (in Massachusetts) with people yelling out that they are liberals and that they are promoting gun control and how guns are bad and Japan did the right thing and all by banning guns i stand by my statement.

Alcohol is a necessity like air. Firearms are nice like steak
once upon a midnight dreary, while i pron surfed, weak and weary, over many a strange and spurious site of ' hot  xxx galore'. While i clicked my fav'rite bookmark, suddenly there came a warning, and my heart was filled with mourning, mourning for my dear amour, " 'Tis not possible!", i muttered, " give me back my free hardcore!"..... quoth the server, 404.

ie brain has fallen out from far too much broad-mindedness

Edit: To the OP, I'd live w/o alcohol before giving up my firearms.  If I had to give up my firearms, might as well have a drink ...

I'm liberal and pro-gun.  Suck on that you angry senile youngster!

On topic.

I didn't vote.  Is the poll which of the two we wish to keep, or which of the two do we prefer to do without?

Also, to be honest, if guns were never invented, or if alcohol were never invented, the question then is what would replace it in it's 'damaging-to-civilization' capacity?  So null vote for me.  i don't drink alcohol and never will, and i hate drunks.  I do own guns and i always will if possible, but i hate the bad guys who steal guns and kill people with them.  Tough choice.

No I think it means broadminded as in the opposite of ignorant, stubborn and narrow-minded.

I'm a moderate liberal, in terms of US politics. Funnily enough, that means I agree with gun laws but not legalizing marijuana. Well, actually, I like what they have in Switzerland: everyone has to go to the Army for 1 year of training or half a year + yearly training until you're 30 something. You get issued with a rifle but limited to no ammunition.
However, our culture is great for this, as a good Swiss wouldn't dare mow his lawn on a Sunday, let alone use his weapon irresponsibly.
If a training course with the gun, and a certain amount of discipline (such as army training) were required to carry a gun in the USA, that would be fine with me. But the way it is, no even the current gun laws are being kept, so I don't see the point of adding more that will be ignored.

Everyone knows alcohol and firearms go hand-in-hand.  To separate them would be like watching the Simpsons without Homer.

Shame on you...

To further my point they can't be separated - what are you going to shoot at if you don't drink?
