Assault's smoke is so useless. Support class in SF gets inf smoke grenades that last ages, can't be seen through at all, and stay there for ages (and on top of all that they cause visual disruption for ages). And assault get's 1 grenade that puffs out transparent smoke for about 10 seconds.

Up until i read this thread i also had no idea what that little circle on the chopper HUD was either. Now i know.

I think the smoke grenade can be useful in some occations.

If you're gonna cap a flag, drop the smoke grenade and snipers will have more trouble with spotting you. Even rest of the enemys too. If some enemys decide to attack that flag when the smoke is thick, that might buy you the time to spot him before he spots you. If they trows grenades they wouldn't know exactly where to throw, unless the UAV is airborne.

The most pointless thing in BF2 is every single gun in the AT kit exept DAO-12, close range.

The APC side guns are the most useless. You never see anything when you are driving along. The APs never stops in teh middle of a battle, so you never see anything when stopped. As soon as you see a potental victim, the bloody APC moves and you miss them.

Everything elso has a use IMO.

All of us know that there is an EU Ribbon but it was removed because they fucked up something with it. So it was better to remove it so its not recivable. If you think about it its total same as other ribbons like PLA,MEC,SAS,MEC SF etc.
So for me there is an EU Ribbon whats useless as you can not recive it.
