From the OP news link.....every evidence garnered and read in the news was from a group of 16 year old, friends and classmates of the victim, who believed that she was killed because of her unacceptance to the strict clothing guidelines set by that religion ( happens to be mine)
Any Canadian willing to provide more information on proper information by authorities on motive of attack and not by 16year olds?
Not that I agree that he should kill or even hurt her for doing so, but I felt that the news was too riddled with maybes.
If he did, I suggest the Canadian authorities give him the death penalty or whatever is worst in the nations judicial system.....

Justice should be made in Canada. If he is convicted, he will be sentenced to life to prison automatically, although the judge will give him a period until he may be considered for parole, from 10 to 25 years. However, don't read into the parole issue, like the media does, that it means that he will be released. Very few murderers are released on parole. He most likely will remain in prison until he dies.

I've heard about too many honour killings/abuse towards Muslim women in real life and in the news to know that it's more of a problem within Islam than any other religion.

The only people that are going to change that perception are other Muslims, not people pointing out the backwardsness. To me, showing the news article and then calling Islam a primate civlization (despite the fact it took place in Canada) does nothing but creates unwarranted tension and anger against Islam. Surely it is an atrocious act (killing someone for not wearing a headscarf), but should this be the image of Islam for the world? It seems to me people (including the media) like to focus on the negative aspects of the religion and culture, as if nothing good has ever come or will ever come from Muslims.

I dont know if you guys heard about the case that happened this summer in Toronto where some muslim father tried to run down his daughter in his van because she was dating a white "devil".
