OK, so my younger brother lets me use his laptop while he plays BF2 on the PC. After he forced me to "get off now", I selected shut down and walked away from the laptop (I left it open... fuck him). I don't know what he did from there. Next time I go to use it, I see "Updating 7 of 12" (i think). It eventually gets to 12/12 and I think it's all good. When I try and login, I get this:

The User Profile Service failed the logon. The User Profile failed to load."
I've had a look around the net for the last day trying to find solutions. I've already tried to boot in safe mode and using system restore... but of course, there are no restore points that have been created.

I'm now clueless. What do you guys think I can do?

Thanks,
Mcminty.

If you dont have another administrator account on your PC I think your fucked. Maybe you can create one in safe mode. Try this:

but you would need an account that you can log in to in order to make a new one in safe mode.

log into safe mode and go into run and type the command msconfig  then click the services tab and make sure that The User Profile Service is enabled.

2nd if thats is already enabled then right click on my computer and click manage.  click on the services and applicatations and then click on the services locate The User Profile Service and make sure it is set to automatic and its turned on.

this should fix your problem if not send me a message I can help you if you need it
