I guess because they don't have anything more pressing to get done before the holidays...like a budget.

Personally, I don't think Congress should give a squirt of piss (no pun intended) about this. Let the leagues handle it. Otherwise, they're just wasting (more of) the taxpayers' money.

So...here's the question: Should Congress spend any time on this subject...in lieu of other unresolved governmental matters?

Yes, they should because those guys are/were true heroes for a lot of kids, and they have a powerful influence on them.  Now, how do you explain to your kid that Barry Bonds is not the huge hero he thought he was.

That's the parents' job...not Congress'.

Let the league bring the ruckus ... if they have the balls, which I doubt.

Bud Selig alone should be policing this effort, not Congress.  Congress has constitutional rights to restore, wars to end, and healthcare to provide.  Babysitting baseball and steroid use (and terry schiavo grandstanding, moveon.org condemning, and other frivelous things BOTH shameless parties consider business) should not be in our country's best interest.

having said that, I just hope with all my heart that Bonds gets busted and feels just an inkling of shame and loss.  hate that prick and all the other cheaters here in the SF Bay Area.  Balco's Conti isn't lying...he knows who's had human growth hormone and who hasn't, he knows when to screen people (off season when they're bulking up), and how to detect the undetectable HGH...but does baseball care or do jack, nope.

Stupid sport anyway...

Bud won’t do anything, as usual he’ll let the politicians have their fun instead of stepping up.  Hope Bonds goes down in flames and gets banned.  He’s such a cocky bastard and it irks me that he’s breaking records of baseball greats in a dishonest manner.   Baseball isn’t my favorite sport either, but it’s the principle of the situation.

Hmmm....watch a congressional hearing or guys playing ball who might be on steroids.   I think I'm watching the ballgame.

The government should not be involved in this in any way shape or form.  This should be entirely up to the league to handle.

Yes.  In most cities, tax money goes to build the stadiums.
