I wouldn't pay more than $200 for that...
The idea of any hi-fi system is to reproduce the source material as faithfully as possible, and to deliberately add distortion to everything you hear (due to amplifier deficiencies) because it sounds 'nice' is simply not high fidelity. If that is what you want to hear then there is no problem with that, but by adding so much additional material (by way of harmonics and intermodulation) you have a tailored sound system, not a hi-fi. - Rod Elliot, ESP

thanks for the compliment about my rig though. Took me a couple months to build but it all came together. I will look into a bigger PS though.
Why the hell would he need a 1KW PSU for the stuff in his rig. Unless he has a couple of hard drives and optical drives and is running some sort of SLI setup. If He's only got one HD and DVD drive, 550 for that isn't low. Unless it's from a crap manufacturer.
It seems to be running everything no problem.....and to answer your question, i have one dvd drive, and a 500 GB SATA II hard drive. and 250 GB external
550W from a propper manufacturer is enough.
