My opinion... (There are more but these are the top 5..)

#1  Airpower way too dominant..  I admit the aircraft and choppers are pretty cool, the physics of
them, the appearance, their capabilities, very cool... BUT..  it TOTALY RUINS WHAT COULD BE A GREAT
INFANTRY BASED GAME...and lets face it.. it takes boots on the ground to do anything in war..

#2  Chopper Capping..  this is the gayest thing ever allowed in a war simulation I have ever seen.
I remember seeing those choppers spin around and around and around the flag poles in BF Vietnam,
what a hilarious joke.. but they didnt learn their lesson, I suppose..   Its a disgrace.. too often during
small player loads this is all that happens... whoop..chopper cap this one....off we go...chopper cap
that one...off we go... what a total joke.

#3 Commander Mode...  Ok, it may have been a cool idea.. but without a working voting system this
ruins more competetive games than anything..  The other team has a decent commander who is willing
to stay idle for a while and help his buddies with supplies, arty, etc.. but your team has some useless
noob who just wants his 2x bonus, or even worse some jet or chopper whore commander..like yeah,
you can command while dogfighting all game..    Like I said, FIX THE VOTING SYSTEM...THE GAME HAS
BEEN OUT FOR TOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO LONG FOR YOU NOT TO HAVE FIXED IT YET.

#4 Red Tag Bug..  Well they say its gonna be fixed, but last I heard a few weeks back, they were saying
they still didnt even know what caused it... NOT GOOD.   Ive been kicked from servers for tking my
teammates, I have seen others kicked, I have had a decent score turned into a crappy score because
I blasted a jeep full of buddies because the teammate driver had a red tag...  Its a total joke that this
bug is still in the game.

#5 Babysitter Rule..    Do we really need 10 or 12 babysitters to join the game before the game will
start? Is stat padding REALLY REALLY REALLY that bad where ALL OF US have to be punished for a few
smacktards who stat pad ??   Isnt 10 or 12 or whatever the # is these days really necessary ?
EA has put soooooooooooo much importance on points, stats, awards, badges, medals, etc etc that
we have to put up with server killing rules like this.     You can have the best damn box on the net,
dual cpus, mega ram, mega everything, and yet you cant get enough players on the server for a
game to even start..   Even if you have a clan, its hard to get 10 or more of your buddies on at once..
EA has no common sense, what so ever, it seems.. I dont care about stats... I care about wins..

Oh well, those are my top 5 complaints..   no offense to anyone.. I just think BF2 would be a
hundred times better if EA/DICE had a little common sense..

3. Yes the voting system is annoying but if it worked properly it could be too easily exploited - what is needed is to keep the current system but to have a centre screen message saying 'kick vote against Noob - tking' etc.

It's not about common sense - DICE cannot predict the future and most if not all of these issues have been/will be addressed

Some good points there I think. I personally would like to see the ability by server admins to dictate whether or not jets/tanks/helo's or apc's spawn on the map. I personally dont see this as a hinderance and actually prefer playing on servers that request you dont use tanks etc. The fun factor (for me at least) is increased tenfold. There are always servers that will have vehicles enabled for you to get your badges or ribbons.

Also agreed on the babysitter rule, most of the fun games I have had have been on low pop servers on large pop maps, at least on those infantry tactics become the fore (see point 1)

As with all games of this type they are open to bugs and manipulation by the playing populace. I say with proper feedback from the community EA should and most likely will resolve a lot of the ingame issues, the question is will they create more bugs in the process?

In response to above reply..

1.  well, on small player loads, say a game with 10-12 people in it, what you end up with more times
than not, is 80% of the players in the air...leaving 2-3 people on the ground.. what kind of game is that?
I see it all the time...   perhaps the ratio of players to aircraft spawn points should be tweaked.

2. I can cap a flag in any chopper without landing.. yes I know the players who are onboard with me
do not count in the flag capping but youre wrong in your assesment.. I can cap a flag in any of the choppers
without landing, or firing a shot..

3. I agree with your suggestion, a big box that comes up with a vote... something other than whats there
now. The curent system is USELESS.

4. I see the red tag bug EVERY night.. I have around 300 hours of playing time myself, also.. I see it
every day.. some nights I see it 3-4 times..

5. Common sense would have gone a long way.. its almost if DICE didnt even play the game themselves..
I mean, damn... Tank shell direct hits on choppers dont even take them down.. thats just silly..
If they dont tweak the firepower of the aircraft, then they should lower their armor, because even a
small rpg can take down a chopper if hit in the right place.. but a tank shell would DEFINATELY blow
it to bits..wherever it hit.

well i think its rare to see a game not start until 12 people arrive its normally 6-8 for me so it doesnt take more than 5 minutes to start
you can also cap a flag in the drivers seat of a jeep - why not a chopper, its not like it can do it from an altitude of 100m+
the only problem with the transport choppers is that the Blackhawk is so superior to the other ones - i've yet to meet anyone who has killed an enemy on the move with the machine guns on the chinese or MEC chopper

in answer to the above play on an unranked server or play counterstrike, i dont want battlefield 2 corrupted with such nonsense - the vehicles are what make the game

personally, I play more and more on private servers... less and less on public servers..

If DICE is going to make a commander mode, then they should make sure the team has
a reasonable ability to get rid of him and get another... but as it is now, its impossible to
get rid of one..   but overall, youre right.. its the lameness of players who exploit the system
for their own benefit, not the teams.. so to that I say, make a few tweaks, to make sure the
team comes first..

on a side note..  someone mentioned above that they hated the word NOOB.. for myself,
a big pet peeve is the term of 'own' or 'owned' etc..    I think its hilarious that a lot of the
people who use this term dont even 'own' the pcs they play on..

1. Overzealous server admins
2. The ranking system and having to play an excessive amount of hours to unlock weapons
3. Punish a tk
4. Crappy singleplayer mode
5. Takes to long to quit during a load

Not all the fault of EA/DICE but EA should know by now that people who play online games will exploit/abuse it in order to win.

1. If you dont like aircraft go play on a dedicated infantry server. Either that or learn to fly the jet yourself so YOU can whore.

2. EA have addressed this already in that you have to disembark the chopper to be really effective at capping a flag.

3. Agreed.

4. This is being addressed in the next patch & in testing the patch not one instance of the red bug has been sighted.

5. This is a server admin issue. The default setting for starting a game is 2 players.

As for the things I think need addressing:

1. Medic bags do not heal the enemy (being addressed in the next patch)

2. TK'ing - major issues. eg: your flying the jet having a top round & you fire off 4 missiles to try knock down the enemy jet that is being a real pain in the ass, only to see your missiles turn 45 degrees to hit a friendly FULL BH (instead of following the enemy jet dead in front of you) with a resultant 'you have been kicked and banned from the server'. Also morons that like to drive a jeep up to you then jump out at the last second so they kill you but dont get punished - major problem.

3. Auto punishing - eg your flying a full BH & are suddenly shot down. You die & are punished for killing everyone onboard BECAUSE YOU WERE THE PILOT (majorly fucking gay).

4. Commanders should get points for killing the enemy with say an assault rifle. ive had instances where no-one has wanted to command so Ive done it & run around on the ground dropping supplies etc as well as killing the enemy & yet I get no points. Just wrong.

actually they do the reason yours dont is that the explosions you see are created on your computer, due to lag the guy in the chopper probably saw the missile go passed his window, the lower the ping of the server the less this will happen. ps it is possible to kill a plane with a tank shell.

1. You need good pilots period, if they other team has good pilots and you don't have any then yea the air power can be unnerving, but normally the pilots are balanced out between the teams

2. BH=gay The other ones arn't overpowered and if someone is actually defending the base being capped then it's a pain for the pilot (especially if that defender is an AT, assualt, or a M-95 wielding sniper). And unless the passengers hope out it's no different then a single person capping the base aka rather slow. ( Patch 1.20 is lowering air units's healths anyways so it'll be easier to kill camping helis)

3. I agree that kick and mutiny votes need to be easier to see and should require all to vote.

4. My advice is to double check the uniform if you are unsure of what team the red tag is on. Also look for signs that he isn't on the other team like the way he's facing, if others are shooting at him, and if he is shooting at others on your team.

5. Depends on the server, but it is needed to give any meaning to the ranking system itself. If I could go just solo or with a friend on a map I would have a few more awards.

Yup, planes kick ass in killing, but I've had several rounds on Daqing Oilfields with 40+ kills and no deaths with a bomber (including giving _HW_MegaSideArms his kill streak of 59 as my gunner) and yet still lost the round. Without a ground presence, planes get kills and points, but do not win rounds. If planes are accompanied by a good ground force, then thier opponent usually gets pinned down to a single base.

Yeah it still happens, but it is nothing like it was before the 1.03 patch (when Blackhawks really could whore). A single infantry hiding inside the flag radius negates this tactic.

Commanders who fight don't get any teamwork or combat score while commanding and 2x only applies to commander points, not teamwork or combat. In short, they are n00bs who don't know about the point system.

If you really don't care about stats, then just play an unranked where it can begin with as little as 2 players. There is too much opportunity to abuse the ranked points system if you can just go on alone and overrun a map by yourself and get the win. I can already imagine a Karkand only server where there is only one player on late night who just caps all the MEC flags to get 8(flags)x4(2 neut, 2 cap) = 32 points and the overrun win. Jump in a jeep and get that done in under 5 minutes... Easy 6 SPM and amazing win/loss ratio.

See why there is a minimum player count?

sometimes is the minimum player count f*cking annoying but if I am just do wierd things with my clan on the ranked server (mostly teamkilling :p) than it is good coz you dont have to worry that your stats are going down or that the round ends .

I want to say something positive abaut flag capping too (i know, its a flame post but I have to say it): in BF1942 you could actually cap the flag outside the camp Say, on wake you could cap the smaller bases from outside the barbed wire, and the airfield from the hill at the beach (where the chinese arty is now).
and now my negative point is that you could better look at the flag to see how far it is captured as to that silly red and blue bar

My point about chopper capping is this.... never in the history of warfare has a airpower taken
any ground, ever.  So why would choppers be capable of doing so in this game?  My thought is that
the 'ZONE' of the flag was created for the purpose of players to infiltrate and take over the point,
however a side effect was that choppers in BFV were able to get in this zone in the air, I feel this
was un-intended by the creator of the game, and they just never did anything about it..

At least they fixed it where only the pilot would count as in the zone, rather than all his riders..
But still, its gay as hell when youre playing on a small player load, 8-10-12 players and all
you get is a bunch of chopper capping..   And with the armor of these choppers for some reason
being SUPER armor (i.e. a tank shell doesnt take down a chopper even with a direct hit? obviously
noone at DICE has no knowlede of todays tank shells and the damage they do..) its lame..

2 hits with AT rockets on a chopper to take it down would be fair and balanced.. but 1 tank shell
should be all she wrote..

it sucks being in armor sometimes hitting the chopper twice only to have it blow me away and it limps back to its pad for repairs...

All that needs to be done is to make air vehicles unable to capture CPs. This would force people to bring at lease one person with, who would have to drop out, making himself vulnerable, to capture the flag. The heli would then have to go low to pick him up again, making it vulnerable to AT rockets.

Attack choppers would have to drop thier gunner to capture a flag, making them useless against close-in infantry.

1. I definately agree that air is WAY too overpowered and very frustrating to go about 10 feet and get blown up by an aircraft before even getting to battle, for this reason i find tanks to almost suck.  I do realize that flying jets can be difficult so anybody who spends time learning how to fly like so and bother the crap out of everybody else deserves a bit of an advantage, maybe not like the current one.  I do wish though that it was a bit more ground orientated and air was made a bit weaker just so it would be fair.

2. I don't personally have a problem with choppers being able to cap, not that big of a deal and don't see why they shouldn't be able to...

3. Retarded commander's get on my nerves as well... but after griping to myself about it some i just tell myself it's a game, and having idiots play it is just a part of it that really can't be avoided.  Even so the artillery is what i hate most about commanders, they are willing to bomb their own bases to try and stop a cap...  just frustrates me when I nearly have a capture and the guy sends a whole artillery barage at a single guy, but i suppose they should have a bit of power as well.  Teamkills from the artillery should definately hit the commander hard, not a thing i hate more than when my own commander kills me and doesn't care because it doesn't really count against him.

4. Yeah, I've ruined my score a few times for that reason, not a big deal to me but would definately be nice to see that fixed.

5. I can see some sense in that, doesn't bother me.

Overall i think the game could be fixed a little, and as far as i know they're still working on patches.  I get the feeling you want a completely realistic game but thinking about it, it needs to be a bit unrealistic in some places or it would just be a plain stupid game that nobody would want to play.  If helicopters were to die too easily then nobody would want to use them because they don't have much evasive actions and would suck hard but i do believe a single missle should be enough to take down a jet...  So, realize it's just a game, i have never played a game without its ups and downs, and take the good with the bad.  If you find the bad to be outweighing the good well then, why play it?
