Well, I recently had a lock up on my system. Upon reboot, the machine would not post. So i reset the Cmos and got into the bios, everything was set back to default, so I changed everything back to where it was supposed to be. I changed my ram timings from 5-5-5-18 to 4-4-4-12 @ 2.1v. After reboot no post again. I have an EVGA 680i mobo and would get two repeating beeps and the C1 mobo led code. So i reset the cmos again, and ran memtest with all four gigs. I ran it over night and have over 250 errors. So i began the long process of runing each stick by itself. First off they I ran them all for just about two passes in the first ram slot on the motherboard, everything was good.
So i put all four dimms back in and changed the timings back to 4-4-4-12 2.1v. It booted this time and i ran memtest again. It made one pass, froze...
so then i tried running the test with two dimms. The first set ran overnight w/ no errors (slots 1 & 3), so then i ran two other dimms in slot 2 and 4. Again it froze after a few passes with one error. So then i ran one stick in slot four, two passes, no errors. Moved it over to slot two, ran the test and it froze after one pass, no errors, just locked up. So to double check that it wasnt the slot on the mobo i took another stick and ran it the same slot, it made three passes w/ no errors.... WTF. Im so confused.
Any tips for testing ram? How many passes should i let it take? what are the chances that it's teh mobo? Should i just take this thing to the computer store and let those guys figure it out???? Im like five minutes away from saying fuck this and go back to console gaming....

Thx,
Sonder.
