Great website, Gunslinger...  lol

Anyway, yeah...  It's time we installed another dictator in Iraq or just split the country into 3 parts.  Either way, let's get the fuck out.

Ungrateful sods. They'll change their tune once things go back to normal.

'Oh please, nice british troops! Come back and make the bad terrorists go away again!'

I'm wholly in favour of this pullout. Bush started this mess, he can fucking finish it. We sorted the place out once, we do NOT need to again.
Who knows, maybe the USA will learn not to arm militias with heat-seeking missiles?

hmmm...

You do know that back in the day, the Brits built a chemical weapons plant for Iraq...who used it against Iran right?  Don't go pointing the dirty end of the stick at anyone but yourselves.

That was Afghanistan not Iraq, from what I've seen, Iraqi insurgents use Strela Launchers, not Stingers.

The Japanese weren't particularly happy that we nuked them and then occupied them, but look, now we're bestest buddies.

Japan also wasn't a multi-ethnic state.  The only other major ethnicity in Japan are the Ainu, but they are a very small portion of the population.

But, but, but, the Great Britain can't do anything wrong! It must be America's fault!

Edit: ohisorry, is it britannia?

Yes, I am aware this is an incoherent post. So are the millions of others that say nothing but what I said, just without the sarcasm.

A major difference in this situation is that both Japan and Germany were already culturally 'western' and there appeared to be no ulterior motive to the actions of the allies in terms of exploitation of either Germany or Japan. The west is currently trying to impose western cultural norms on a nation a) racked by inter-ethic/creed hatred, b) that is muslim (which is inherently 'anti-western' in terms of certain critical values) and c) that has bags of oil and is strategically located (making suspicion of US/UK motives difficult if not impossible to eradicate, especially given that Israel, the arab's number one enemy practically writes US foreign policy).

Good point...  Three things made Germany a unique situation...

1) We had the help of all of Europe in rebuilding both Germany and the rest of the continent.  It was a concerted collaborative effort to put the past behind us.

2) Germany, for all its faults, has always been a more functional and unified culture than areas like Iraq.  Even the Nazies were better at accomplishing things, despite their evil.  Germany is, undoubtedly, a multi-ethnic state, but it has been this way for long enough that the people are used to working together.  Iraq was a country arbitrarily created by European powers.  Borders were not always so well-defined in the Middle East.

3) We heavily censored the media back during the rebuilding of Germany, so that the Nazi insurgents were not able to have much of an effect on our sentiment towards rebuilding.  Granted, I don't see censorship as the answer to our current situation.  I would think we have evolved passed such traditions.
