Whenever I go to Launch Bearshare or Limewire, it says it's connecting forever, and in the meantime I can't use the Internet on any device in the house. Even when I give up, this effect can last for up to 4 hours. I try resetting the router, adn that works sometimes. But why would these two programs do that?
Modem could be dying.

Limewire is a piece of shit anyways. Just letting your pc get assraped by everything possible on the internet. Try using torrents or newsgroups.

The first thing that popped into my head was this scenario...
Firewall thinks its a hack/virus - Can't Turn it off - Disables all in/out internet from you comp
Check you Firewall, see if its allowed to access internet....
------------------------------------------------------------------
Just to clarify, your talking about the limewire startup box thing, not when you actually get in, right?

everything i write is a ramble and should not be taken seriously.... seriously. ♥
Sounds like a firewall problem to me. Try disabling it and see what happens.

laughs, you guys are telling this kid, who is running limewire and bear share to turn off his firewall and then run those P2P programs?
hey kid you might as well poor a nice cold pepsi over your tower and call it a day if you do this.
There's a difference between telling him to run those p2p programs and telling him to download things via those programs without a firewall.prototype wrote:

If you're careful and smart about it, limewire won't hurt your computer. I use limewire strictly for downloading single songs that I want instead of torrenting a whole album. I've been using it for years now and haven't gotten 1 virus.
You just can't download videos and certainly not .exe's. You also have to watch out for those songs that are only ~100KB - that's obviously too small, so there's something fishy going on there.
