I don't know if this is more D&ST material or EE material. It's a kinda serious subject, but I'm not writing thatseriously about it. Feel free to move it if you mods think it doesn't fit.

Anyhow, do those christian fundamentalists that shove their religion down everyone's throat annoying? I find them both very offensive and very annoying, since they refuse to accept the presence of atheism and other religions.

Everywhere I go, I seem to get drawn into some religious battle. Both IRL and on the intharnets. Being a Zen Buddhist/Neo-dimensionist, I don't see any real logic in the majority of christianity's arguments. Reincarnation and other options and views on "heaven" make more sense to me. But even if they do, I don't go around telling people that MY beliefs are the correct ones, and THEIR beliefs are incorrect. Since neither my religion or their can be completely proven, I accept that and think "Hey, if I'm wrong - fuck me, I'll go to some hot place". I don't believe in a heaven or hell, in fact, I don't even believe in somekind of karma after death. I won't go so deep, but I believe that when you die, you get to choose a new form to reincarnate as. No "larger force" has anything to do with that. If I'm correct, and the other religions are wrong, they aren'g gonna burn for eternety for not following the right path, they're either simply going to realize that they were wrong when they were "alive", or find it rather dumb to believe something like that, depending on how the "mind" acts after "death".

TL;DR: Do you find people determined to turn you to their religion annoying?

I had to cut away some of the original content of the poll options due to charcher limitations, but I hope you understand it anyhow.
The idea of any hi-fi system is to reproduce the source material as faithfully as possible, and to deliberately add distortion to everything you hear (due to amplifier deficiencies) because it sounds 'nice' is simply not high fidelity. If that is what you want to hear then there is no problem with that, but by adding so much additional material (by way of harmonics and intermodulation) you have a tailored sound system, not a hi-fi. - Rod Elliot, ESP

Probably about 91% of people annoy me.  I wouldn't be able to catagorize them all.

People of any kind that push their beliefs on me are annoying.  So are kids with 5 gutted computers and a messy room.

Well, my grandparents for example, they're not the hardest of core christians, but they've been nagging and trying to get me to convert ever since I refused to get confirmed about two years ago. They've been nagging and nagging, and offered me stuff, and nagged even more.

And all the fundamentalists of the internet, usually dumber than the IRL ones.

Many of my friends are rather firm christians, and they often try to talk me into it. And there are tons of door-knockers around here. At least once a month we get some. Those groups that try to get you believing their stuff, without any acceptance for other beliefs just scratch my ass more than anything else.

What's even more annoying, is that many of these groups are in a truly horriffic minority under the religions of asia. They're saying that 2/3-3/4 of the world population are going to hell. Somehow, I don't think that makes so much sense.

The only people who ever try to convert me to their religious persuasion are Scientologists and Atheists. And they annoy me when they try to convert me.

Well I think it's fine but the title should be changed to be more open, because as I have pointed out, Christians are the only ones who try to convert people.

Oh okay, so pushing your religion down someone else's throat is totally okay. Everyone who does that pisses me the fuck off:

-Christians
-Atheists
-Anyone the fuck else who thinks they can tell me what to believe.

Of course, its not just nagging. It was an example. I'm sure you've went through worse things than I have on that front, I've gone through some rough stuff on other fronts.

A year ago, my grandparents made me sit in the local church for six hours per day for three days after refusing night prayer. To name one incident.

Yes, but so do people that continue to harp on about religion in any shape or form.

Can't we all just believe what we, as individuals, want to believe and let everyone else believe whatever they want to believe?

Im a Christian but I dont try to force people into believing one thing or another. I despise people who do. What annoys me more is ignorant athiests complaining about religion when it has done absolutely fuck all to them.

Wow, where do you guys live? Docta, I don't think anyone has ever tried to convert me to atheism, and I don't think I've ever even encountered a Scientologist. And David.P, I would also like to know where you live, as I have never heard an argument about 9/11 in my school. You guys must both live in some verrry different and rare places.

Pretty sure you are both telling half-truths and huge exaggerations.

Lol. I don't think I can name a single place on the planet where religion doesn't touch everyone. You'd have to be ignorant to think that in America Christianity does not dominate society.

I am a Christian and I am one that believes that the things I believe in are correct and other things are not. That is pretty much the definition of the word "belief."

However, one of the things I believe is this: God gave us ALL free will to believe, question, argue, debate, disagree, and choose our own lives while here on this Earth.

I will be friends with anyone I like, no matter what their believe system is. When it comes to friends, personality and character is more important to me than religion.

This being said, if a friend inquires my beliefs I will gladly tell them.

If a friend doesn't want to hear it, I will continue to be the same friend I have always been.

I can't stand it when other people try to cram their beliefs down my throat, so I won't do it to others. And that goes for ANY beliefs.

I have seriously had people become violently angry because I did not enjoy their favorite movie. In that respect, it doesn't surprise me that people kill each other every day over religious matters. However, I can't ever condone it.

I respect the fact that everyone gets to choose. Please don't ever tell me that I am wrong for how I feel, and respect what I believe. I will happily do the same for you.

What I meant was that most (READ: Most, not all) Athiests seem to enjoy acting like religion has physically harmed them.
