I hate that when you have a right to choose your religion then someone suggest/trys to convert you to whatever that religion may be. you might be at the store then BAM outta no where some adults or pre teens will try to "Peer" pressure you into converting.

Null. Yes, I am a Christian and I freely share my faith when it fits the discussion. Whether it’s annoying or not depends on the method if you’re dealing with open-minded folks. I don’t mind at all if someone shares their view, even if the presentation is a bit over the top. I’ll respectfully listen and then I ask for the same courtesy. It doesn't offend me that their view is different in the least. The people with whom I usually find myself sharing my beliefs with are people who directly ask me what I think and the discussion proceeds from there. If you’re a religious person of any faith dealing with people who get instantly enraged when you share your views, then discussion is unlikely to get you anywhere.
I can sympathize with the fact the door knockers annoy you, Freezer7Pro. Most people don't like being approached at their home by someone they don't know and it makes them look like salesmen. That said, I have JWs knock on my door once in awhile and want to discuss their views. I enjoy discussing differing viewpoints, so I let them speak. However, even I have been annoyed on a Saturday morning when someone is banging on my door when I want to sleep in.

That's what I'm saying. The lack of respect that many religious groups (Mainly the Jesus-based ones, from my experience) shows to other religions. They refuse to accept that they might be wrong, as there is no proving either Islam, Buddhism or Christianity. But no, they keep on going and say that they're the correct ones, that no other religion could ever work. Etcetera, etcetera.Scorpion0x17 wrote:

Yes, but so do people that continue to harp on about religion in any shape or form.
Can't we all just believe what we, as individuals, want to believe and let everyone else believe whatever they want to believe?
The idea of any hi-fi system is to reproduce the source material as faithfully as possible, and to deliberately add distortion to everything you hear (due to amplifier deficiencies) because it sounds 'nice' is simply not high fidelity. If that is what you want to hear then there is no problem with that, but by adding so much additional material (by way of harmonics and intermodulation) you have a tailored sound system, not a hi-fi. - Rod Elliot, ESP
Rather the oppsoite if they try to "convert" me it just amuse me and i can get a good laugh out of it.
The issue you seem to be pointing out is that most of these people that you are complaining about are actually trying to do good for you. They honestly believe they are correct, and are trying to get you to understand why. Yes it can be annoying, but this is their beliefs. If you honestly believed that the world was going to end (at some point), and everyone was either going to heaven or hell, wouldn't you try to save a few more given the chance?
I completely agree with Stingray, it is a topic of discusion when it is appropriate. If someone is curious, you inform them. It is that simple to me.

The issue is that most religions teach us to actively inform and convert others to the religion. Now good or bad, that is the truth of it.

The thing that annoys me is when Christians or Bapists members do not read or heed the "Do Not Solicit" message on my front door and knock.
At first, I ignore and hope they go away but if they persist, I get annoyed and rudely tell them to read and go away.

lol, i go to a catholic high school, and the other day, we were having a discussion about religion and i stated i am not catholic, and the idiot beside me goes "OMG WHAT! YOU GOT CONFIRMED YOU ARE OBVIOUSLY CATHOLIC LOLOLOLOOL" I have matured a lot since i was 13, and in that i realized Catholicism is not for me and i cannot believe in it. I was confirmed, but i don't believe it at all now. i am completely neutral. i accept the idea of God or a higher power, but i can't say fully whether "he" exists or not. as for heaven and afterlife, i have no fucking idea. for all we know we could end up completely dead, no heaven, no reincarnation. just a blank space, no thoughts. Religion bugs me sometimes cause they are so sure about heaven and god, even though it is man made and not proven through anything but faith.
no why?
I'm a confirmed roman catholic, but i couldn't give two fucks for religion of any sort, it causes too many problems

People of any kind that push their beliefs on me are annoying. So are kids with 5 gutted computers and a messy room.
2 years in a job that requires me to deal with the general public = I hate humanity
No.
Probably because nobody has ever tried to force their religion on me. Where the hell do you people live, Jerusalem?

I don't force my religion on others, nor do I disregard other religions, but I won't change who I am.
I have no problem with Christians or any other religious people. I don't like religion, but that doesn't mean I have a problem with the people that practice it.
However, I hate all fundamentalists with a passion, spanning across all religions and lack thereof (atheists can be just as bad). Keep that shit to yourselves and don't be blinded by it. The worst thing people do is accept ideas mindlessly and don't think them through, or challenge them. The mindless followers I can't stand.

Remember Me As A Time Of Day
Agreed, there is nothing wrong with having faith. There is nothing wrong with believing others should have faith in the same things that you do either. Just so long as you don't push it on some one I think religion is a wonderful thing. It can bring communities together, give help in a time of need, and provide hope for people who might have lost it. I think that like most things in this world it has it's +'s and it's -'s, but to answer the OP. People who try to convert you do piss me off. So I generally try to convert them back, usually to voodoo.smtt686 wrote:

Atheists and Anger
I would not give the time of day to fundamentalists. Aside from them, I am always initially uncomfortable around theists. Some annoy me, but I attempt to establish that they will not talk religion around me, even in a casual manner. I hate conflict, especially arguing and debating, and to introduce that topic to me is one that I fear may hurt friendships. Nevertheless, I have only one religious friend. I truly find it difficult to establish a bond with a religious person when it is an active component of their life.
