This is all on my completly new PC

Ok, so i finally got COD4 on PC after a few weeks. I gothome, instaled it, perfect, no error messages or anything...YET.

So whenever i go to launch the game it starts fine, screen goes black then i hear an error sound and it goes back to desktop with an error code that only has a heap of codes an numbers in it.

System Specs:

Intel CDQ 6600 @ 2.8 ghz
2 GB of 800mhz kingston RAM
ATi Saphire tech X1950 XTX
Windows XP pro 32bit (I think)

And with BF2, i decided i needed a new CD key and CD (hehe some servers dont like me)
So i got the 5 disk deluxe pack with SF included but it always fails to install on the 4th disk and the error mesage comes up saying "BF2 failed to install, please start again from the start , i know someones had this problem before, there was a thread on it but i couldnt find it

Any help much appreciated, thanks

Sounds kinda weird... Your system should run both games easily... Have you ran memtest86?
Could be bad memory or a moboard... or graphics card overheating or drivers...
Love is the answer

-I havn't run memtest, but it all registers in th system specs in control panel.
-GFX is definatly not overheating, i have massive fans and Thermaltake Soprano DX case, so good air-flow
-The only drivers i've installed are those on the CD that came with my card, but ive checked both, the ATI/AMD an Sapphire sites and apparently i'm running  the latest drivers

I know that the 5 disc deluxe edition has had problems installing on others pc's. It's a very common problem, so I think that its a seperate problem to your Cod4 error.

I'd email activison with the error code and see what their solution is. Or type the error code into google and cross your fingers.

Good luck.

shiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiit.

This must be killing you Ryan, I feel for you bro.

1. Even though it has been mentioned DO NOT underestimate drivers. Get the newest ones for everything! Seriously, even things that seem trivial - DVD drive, motherboard, sound card (even if it is on board sound!), video card, CPU, OS updates.

2. Google the errors like TheAussieReaper said.

3. If all else fails re-format and re-install windows etc.

All I can think of.

Best of luck bro!

Maybe your DVD player.

I had a SATA DVD player (a year ago) which could play all games except for BF2.  It was replaced by an IDE DVD player and BF2 is able to place ever since. OEM DVD players are priced decent.
