I wouldnt doubt you Russian guys would even know what this picture is about.  What with Russia's world renowned freedom of the press.   Yeah Putin is A.O.K.  thumbs up number 10 GI.
Russia was never about freedom. We always had some lords, tzars, emperors, general secretaries etc. You still do not realise that American 'Freedom' model do not work here?

p/s Litvinenko betrayed his motherland. He sold state secrets to british intellegence. He deserved his death.

p/p/s Don't worry, Gerorgian\Ukrainian scenario wont work in Russia. Putin wont let some pro-american fags to rule the country.

Russia doesn't need to display it's pride at all. If there's one thing I know for sure it's that, I don't think they're trying to look tough at all, but I haven't got any idea what made them go this way suddenly being hostile. I suppose it has to do with the stress over iran & the north pole.
Iran problem is highly possible, yes. Hostile? Well NATO is trying to cover too much territory and we don't like it. Its OK I think The USA was against our missles in Cuba, wasn't it?
the missiles in cuba were offensive

the missiles they want to place are defensive
Actually the missiles were being stationed in Cuba in the interests of defence, not attack. Bay of Pigs and all that...

It doesn't matter, I'm sure (maybe I even hope) the future president will continue Putin's politics. At least it works for us.
I bet youre a stalin fan.
I am not a Stalin fan. Some of my relatives were killed during his repressions. So if I were you I would be a bit more careful here.

I think real life is not like C&C generals. Placing these bases so close means they'll be able to launch anything. And missles in cuba...they were figuratively defensive, I think. Though it was a dangerous and maybe silly decision as it tensed the situation a lot.

It is harsh, but on the other hand it is a bit unreasonable to use Litvinenko who is not an innocent victim as an example then, isn't it?

It's clear that the Russians are using the proposed ABM facilities in Europe as an excuse to flex their muscle.

Anyone with even a passing knowledge of how ballistic missiles (and interceptors) work would realize that 1) the ABMs pose no offensive threat to Russia and 2) the ABMs pose no threat to Russian ICBMs...unless they are launched at Europe.

I know about ABMs but are you sure that only defensive structures will be placed there? )

No more sure than Russia can be that they won't. The argument is whether the missile shield poses a threat to Russia's deterrent capability. It doesn't...not any more than the ABM sites in the US do, and only if the Russian missiles are launched at Europe.

OK, thanks for that tip. I'll try to get more information on it as I'm not sure

MOSCOW: Russia will retaliate against any deployment of a US missile shield in central Europe which would weaken Moscow's nuclear deterrent, the foreign ministry spokesman said Monday.

"This will be a strong action designed to weaken Russia's nuclear deterrent. We would have no other choice than to take measures of reprisal," spokesman Mikhail Kamynin said in a foreign ministry statement.

The warning comes a week after Russia's nuclear weapons chief reportedly threatened to target the planned US missile defence shield in Poland and the Czech Republic if Washington failed to listen to Moscow's concerns.

General Nikolai Solovtsov, head of strategic missile forces, said that such a decision could be taken if the US shield was seen to "undermine the Russian nuclear deterrent capability," the Interfax news agency reported

"I do not exclude... the missile defence shield sites in Poland and the Czech Republic being chosen as targets for some of our intercontinental ballistic missiles," Solovtsov said, according to Interfax.

Along with the news of Russia sending a new $700 million dollar contract for air defense system over Iran, today... The future looks bright. / sarcism
