CamPoe,
I've said my bit.
Really don't care to waste more time on the topic, save for a couple of points.
1) I've been in that region. I'm talking from what I've seen and heard from people - not from the idiot box (TV)
2) Both sides are playing the pawn. The Palestinians are being used as a proxy for every state in the region with a grudge against Israel.
Look where the money is coming from.
Afghan poppy fields (heroin) funding a multitude of nastyness, Saudi royalty, and any number of Middle Eastern states quietly slipping the Palestinians money/guns/explosives/martyrs.
Some of the people on both sides want peace. Unfortunately, there is too much money being funneled to the wanna-be Jihadis - and too many impressionable teenage boys looking for an excuse to blow themselves up.
1) Snap. Take a look at my avatar.
2. True on the pawn part. Not so sure on the Afghan poppies part.
3. The culture of desperation in Palestine certainly doesn't help, nor do the outsiders using the Palestinians to get at Israel, but it's a two-sided coin: Israel have been very belligerent over the years themselves and have needlessly inflamed the situation by unilaterally appropriating land from Palestines and buidling illegal settlements. We can only hope that those who want peace - the Israeli left and Fatah - will attain it. Which is not going to happen with your original post stating that Israel should essentially 'take the whole region'.
