Yeah, so... I got my parent's pc updated > a year ago. Had 256--> 1 gb ram and [crappy stock card]--> geforce 5700 (only pci that is officially compatible w/ bf2) but now I still need more...i want pci-E and obviously I'd need a new motherboard, and I don't know shit about them. So can someone direct me around for what I'm looking exactly for..so I know what'll work in mah rig and what won't?

kthxbi -noobburgerpatty

Find a processor you want and match it with the socket. Also make sure your motherboard has the correct amount of pins for your RAM. Then you also have to make sure that it has PCI-e interface.

If you're getting a new motherboard, you might as well upgrade some other stuff just to make everything compatible. You can get a pretty cheap system that's better than the one you have.

www.newegg.com is a great place. I learned a lot by myself just browsing around and checking all the specs.

Most likely just going to wait 'till I get a job, and buy a new one for myself, like you said.
current -1.79 ghz, gf 5700[pci], gig of ram, <200 gb HD...I could easily find a better one for a nice price ...this old piece o' crap doesn't even have a dvd drive and there's ...6 gb..i think...left.

Doesn't even really matter atm because there's really nothing I need it for...like the upgrades for bf2
