I got myself a PS3 and am very pleased with it, however, the picture on my TV is not exactly great.  It appears, blurry, washed out, and in a word, shite.

The cables that come with the machine, where cheap shitty stuff (exact same as the ps2 for those of you that don't have one), soo I thought to myself I would get this AV cable.  Was just £5 so I just picked it up.

The cable is a 'Fusion component cable' from joytech.

Thing is though, as I look at the settings page on the PS3 manual, wgere they have tge AV info, the input in the TV, I simply do not have, I managed to twist it round to actually get a picture.  But, it was black and white.

Tv is an old Toshiba 27/WL46 series (27'' LCD from like 3-4 years ago).

Anyone got any ideas on how to rig it up properly?

Think I have probably just bought the wrong thing, and the TV simply doesnt support it, if thats the case, just get a dam new one and rig it up HDMI.  But if anyone has an idea, please share it

Cheers

Martyn

Well, coaxial connections aren't exactly known to give better picture than they did 50 years ago...
The idea of any hi-fi system is to reproduce the source material as faithfully as possible, and to deliberately add distortion to everything you hear (due to amplifier deficiencies) because it sounds 'nice' is simply not high fidelity. If that is what you want to hear then there is no problem with that, but by adding so much additional material (by way of harmonics and intermodulation) you have a tailored sound system, not a hi-fi. - Rod Elliot, ESP

How about this then, I tried plugging it into another tv, that did have connections that looked right (colour co-ordinated that is) and all I got was two pink flashes of the ps3 screen, and then it just went blank :\

Uh, that kinda depends on the quality of the cable, and whether or not it's an analogue or digital signal.

The TV offers basically no support for HD in. As far as I can tell, you can only go in via one video cable, which means SD resolution at best. If you could actually run component in, then you could display it in HD easily via component.

That setup will not allow you to display the PS3 in HD, unfortunately. You'll need to go HDMI, like you said, or Component.

I won't even try to argue with you, mikkel, since I know how you never accepts defeat.

.. what? This is probably the kind of weak mentality that gives you that impression in the first place. If you can't refute anything, just stop posting instead of perpetually trying to save face without actually getting anywhere.

"Defeat" sounds pretty dramatic for an argument, but I concede anything that can be proven contrary to my understanding. It's not a problem of mine if you can't present it. Go moan somewhere else.
