But every religion believes in a different god. We simply believe in science. For every different view in Christianity, there is a different church you can follow. Atheism has something similar. I think it takes much more strength as a human being to believe in nothing. Quite honestly, the way I see it, religious people are simply god fearing people. Churches have instilled a belief within their members that if they do not believe in god, accept christ as their savior, etc.. they will burn in an eternal hell. When I was younger, I was a "Christian" or "god fearing" individual. Once I sat down and actually thought about the logistics of it all I decided it wasn't for me, if there's a wrathful god out there who created me, gave me free will and loaded the planet with evidence that he doesn't exist, I will give him every ounce of pleasure he gets from sending me to hell.. I could never have faith in a god so arrogant.
And I don't hate people who actually have faith in something. I hate people who look down on me, pity me and think that I'm going to hell because I'm not ignorant enough to waste 1/7th of my life worshiping that which does not exist...

Atheism is similar to religion in one major way - everyone's interpretation of what it is to be * differs. In that sense, religion and atheism are more a philosophical question of self than anything else.

atheism goes beyond me, saying there is no god with absolute certainty. I really would like someone to explain me, because so far I see it you'd need almost an infinite amount of knowledge to justify your belief in this. Probably most people saying they're atheists actually mean they're agnostic. But anyway; No, we won't be better off without them. They counter most religions and seem to keep eachother in a reasonably friendly balance.
And cam, people that believe in something surely can be way more intelligent than you'd ever think, for one I'd say you're one of the less-intelligent bashers saying stuff like that.

We now know this is false.
Christian god was created because we cant explain death, and because luck cant simply just be luck, it has to be a miracle from god.
The fairy tale god you grew up loving is equally as stupid sounding as the sun god, your just too ignorant to think those thoughts because 'god is all knowing' and your afraid even thinking those thoughts will get you sent to hell!
