So a couple of days ago I ordered the passive cooled 3850 from Sapphire for 172,80 inc. shipping.

Now today I checked the site for my order status I felt like a total jackass. The next following product is a 3870 for 182,00 with tax, thats roughly 25,00 more
http://www.electronicagigant.nl/bestel.asp?id=3458

Now I don't know what the OCing capabilities are on the 3850 but shnould I cancel the order and order the 3870 instead, the 3850 is being sent in week 51.

Either do that or get a cheaper 3850 with a fan and overclock that. You won't get much OC out of a passive video card.

The fact that it is passive, doesn't necessarily mean you won't put fans on it.

QFT. You could easily fit two 80mm fans on that cooler. I have two 40mm fans on my passive 7600. And since it's supposed to be passive, you could get pretty much cooling performance on very low fan RPM's. I say, go for the 3850.
The idea of any hi-fi system is to reproduce the source material as faithfully as possible, and to deliberately add distortion to everything you hear (due to amplifier deficiencies) because it sounds 'nice' is simply not high fidelity. If that is what you want to hear then there is no problem with that, but by adding so much additional material (by way of harmonics and intermodulation) you have a tailored sound system, not a hi-fi. - Rod Elliot, ESP

Yes what is the temperature decrease with the fans you have on them? I'm not planning a huge OC, lets say 10% but it shouldnt go over 90c as PCB can handle 120c max.

So the waiting time on my 3850 is now a month, from which I decided to go back to Nvidia..with this

8800GTS 512MB Alpha dog.

From reviews about the 3850, they say it can get over 100c on full load, which is fucking hot.

$182? Don't tell me the performance is equivalent to the 8800GTX, because I spent $900 on my GTX this summer.

I was gonna buy the 3850 which can be checked next to the 320MB GTS. However, the new 512MB GTS is a 8800GT on Red Bull..which I bought for a whopping 340,00 Euro's

I was considering importing from the US, but after taxes and toll fees I wouldn't really save any money

The cooling performance gets a massive boost. It's basically like comparing any cooler with fan off, and fan on.
