The title says it all. Why? Why is every fucking driver and incompetent jackass that has no common sense? Why must I leave a FUCKING POST IT NOTE ON THE DOOR IN ORDER FOR THEM TO KNOCK OR RING THE DOORBELL?

Honestly, who hires these fucking people with little or no intelligence?

This spans across UPS and FedEx. They both can't do this to save their lives. Last night my gf ordered a new phone through Verizon online and it was overnighted for free via FedEx. Guess what? They didn't knock or ring the doorbell, only put up that stupid fucking notice on the door. Now she has to wait until 7:30 pm tonight to pick it up. She was intending to drive home (3 hours away) tonight, but that may have to wait due to these fucking assholes.

They all either need to:
A) Die in a fire
B) Hire someone that has an ounce of common sense, because hardly any of them know how to knock on the fucking door, or ring the doorbell.

where do you work?

And this is standard practice to get the packages out faster, instead of waiting for people to drag their lazy asses to the door.

I know the feeling. Dickheads can't be bothered to ring the doorbell so they throw a note on the doorstep and sod off.

Who hires/trains these guys anyway. Who would pay them?

odd, I've had a great experience with ups, and most if not all of them have been intelligent / nice guys.

Don't you people get it?  Statistics show the most people are not home during the day, so no need to wait for an answer.  Christ.  Go to the store then and get off your ass.

I don't know man, FedEx and UPS almost always ring for me. They're usually pretty nice.

edit: I do hate it when they leave that note on the door saying "lol sux2bu" but it's better than them leaving what could be worth lots of money in plain view for anyone to grab.

some of them actually ring my door bell, sometimes they just knock my door.  Some just leave my package on the doorstep without a note saying they tried too reach me.

I hate that they have to come so early in the morning.

No, read the post. This is not for me, this is for my gf. She was at her place, waiting in the living room right next to the goddamn door. No attempt was made on his behalf to deliver the package.

I said they didn't knock or ring the doorbell. The dumb fuck didn't even try. That is my point.

So?  Shit happens.  I am sure where you work does everything 100% awesome and accurate.  There is also two sides to every story.

Fair point but if I pay for next day delivery by 2pm then they can expect that I'm going to be in by then.

No, but for something as trivial as knocking on a goddamn door, I figure even apes are capable of that. So, his side is that he's too lazy to knock on the door? Is that it? That he doesn't give a flying fuck about it either way? That is most likely the case, but what that dumb cunt doesn't understand is that it ends up costing everyone involved more time and money.

Were you there?  You know he did not knock for a fact right?

It's true!

They don't nock sometimes!

Apparently, it's because they're late, so they just post it through so they don't get any bad "marks" against them, apparently.

The bastards.

As long as the thing comes in on the same day, UPS doesn't care if it's there at 11AM or 3PM.

I was not there, but don't try to give me that shit about not being there. I would bet money on the fact that my gf is capable of listening for a knock on the door. She didn't have the TV up loud, she wasn't wearing noise canceling headphones, and she wasn't doing construction with a jackhammer or similar heavy equipment. The fact remains that they didn't try. This has also happened with UPS on a few occasions, which is just a little too much. If you like having shit not delivered to you, the more power to you, but this is getting a little old.

I don't know how the company you work for conducts itself, but where I work we don't fuck over the customers. Maybe you can shrug it off because you have lower standards, but I do not.

Wait, so you're seriously suggesting that it's more effective for the UPS/FedEx guys to load the package on the truck, drive out to where it needs to be dropped off, walk up to the front door with the package and leave a note in the case that someone isn't waiting in the driveway for them, so that people can come to their locations and hold up the staff there while they find the packages?

Yeah, okay.

Edit: I love FedEx

Effective?  No.  But what do they care?  These companies have a monopoly.  They are not going to waste their time waiting for the door, right or wrong, most will not.

If you do not like it, don't ship stuff.  Until then, they will just take your money and laugh.

Both UPS and FedEx here ring, knock and wait for usually a minute or two. They're really patient on pickups, too. I think it's more down to driver apathy and impatience than corporate policy. It's much cheaper for any shipping company to get a first hit delivery. Even if the driver has to wait a second or two.

I think they do not care either way tbh.  If I have to ship something, I use a courier.  It cost more, but if it is that important, it is worth it.

Could  you give some suggestions for couriers?

And I do think mikkel has a point, it probably is a bit of driver apathy, but still. I mean, it saves more money by having it delivered on the first go around. In any event, I hope my gf can get this fucker disciplined, hopefully fired. I am not in the mood for assholes, especially when it's so unnecessary.

Maybe he fucked up and knocked on the wrong door?  Shit happens dude.

And I know it saves money.  But that is my point.  These fuckers are so huge, that stuff like this is not stopped.

How can you not hear their trucks pull up to the house?

If I have a package arriving, and I'm home, I'll open the front door or use the laptop by the front window to make sure that I get it. Of course, I live in a rural area, so I have to make sure that my neighbors a couple acres away don't get it by accident.
