Hi, I bought the X-Fi and installed the software.

I ran BF2 and tried to set audio settings to Creative X-Fi (Software / Hardware). But BF2 is telling me that the settings is incompatible, and that I should reset to default.

Any thought? Anybody having this kind of problem?

I have had this problem before. For me, it was that I had the X-Fi on Entertainment Mode instead of Game Mode.

Yeh u might wanna open the Creative Mode Switcher program that was installed with the driver and from there u can switch between 3 modes Entertainment/Audio Creation/Game, u have to manually set these if u really want to take advantage of them, if not just leave them to Game.

I have mine in game mode, and I still get that error...  (*even read up on the SB site*)

Ideas?

Make sure you deleted the old sound drivers. It seems computers are very easily confused these days.

I installed a X-Fi last week. It works good for BF2 and music sounds great but I'm still tweeking. Right now, when I boot up i get the Volume control down on the task bar. As long as the volume control icon is showing I can't open any X-Fi funtions. But once I close the volume control, every function I did try open suddenly opens. weird.
