I am nearly 100% sure that I found my future laptop for school. In my opinion its a very nice one with a nice price but let us see what your opinions are.

HP Pavillion dv6505eo with vista home premium and 15,4 inch screen.

Processor: AMD Turion X2 TK53 1,7 ghz processor-65nm-

Ram: 2 gigs of ddr2

HDD: 120 - 5400 o/m

Graphics: 7150m with op to 559mb memory

802,11 a/b/g network

There is also a nice bag coming with it-

Final price is

570£-

nice?

Well, I waited for a couple of days since I found out they had a sale after newyears.

so at january the 2nd im going down and norton 2008 +a multifunctional printer is included is the price.

the only thing i have against it is the vista- buy XP and put it on as soon as you get it.

People who I know that have vista say they wish they had XP...

For a school laptop I'd want ...

this
.

If you want to do games, get a regular upgradeable PC with more standardized ad supported hardware. Laptops are plain not fun for gaming. Period. I don't care what anyone tells you, they are liars or extremely fortunate.

Besides which, if you plan on lugging this thing around, taking notes, having it last the long day, I wouldn't want something big.

I'm using this laptop. It's for work and subbing as my media PC while I build my other. It's big and heavy (Almost 8lbs).. but I didn't have much of a choice in the matter, the company bought it .

Is this laptop supposed to be predominantly for games? Or work? Both?
Either one, it looks pretty good. Where did you order it from?

Shut up about Vista being fail. Most of you people don't even know what you're talking about, everything is just working fine on Vista... And if he gets Vista with the lappy, why the hell would he spend more money rolling back to XP? Vista takes some time getting used to maybe, for some of us (-.-), but IMO it's way easier and structured. Apart from that, the updates have fixed low performance, and with SP1 upcoming everything will be just fine.

im not bagging vista, ive been using it for the past 5-6 months and im going to go back to xp in the next few days

i just like xp better, vista works FLAWLESSLY for me and im on a hp compaq laptop and drivers are an absolute pain in the ass (XP or vista doesnt matter which one)

i would say crysis no on that laptop (although ive never tried it), bf2 low settings definitely and gta:sa without a doubt

and 570 pound i think thats about $1200-1300 aud so thats a pretty good price

Well if that's your opinion about Vista that's totally fine by me. What bothers me is that most people just read something about it on the internet, and follow the hype of Vista bashing.. And that's just sad.
Apart from that, if you want to go back to XP do it, it's your opinion and choice.

Vista works for you. Well that's great. I was just going on what friends of mine said, and my experience with their computers. This was also mostly when Vista first came out, and some new stuff might have fixed all the issues. It still seems to hold your hand way too much (do you want to allow this? How about this?) and I still hear some compatinility issues (Starwars Galaxies and XFire not working together), but overall, I think Microsoft would have fixed the major bugs by now.

It just isn't worth it for me to spend money to upgrade when XP is working fine.

Vista is a few years ahead of it's self. Give it some time Vista changed many things in how memory is managed and such, let the kinks get worked out and give people the time to upgrade so they can run Vista.

So many people bash Vista when they don't even have the hardware to run it.

yea, that's what I mean. In a few years, most things will be developed for vista, and the 8800 will be considered slow
