How do you run a defrag?

So, my computer has never run a defrag and i took this test that said my computer is running about 44% of the speed it could because of that

but i have no idea how to run a defrag, so that doesn't help. As far as i know it's not too complicated but, yeah

so... how do you do it?

go to properties for your C drive (or whatever drive you're using) and it will be under one of the tabs.

If youre 80-90% full though, you may not be able to defrag at all.

On xp..

Start > All Programs > Accessories > System Tools > Disk Defragmentor. Pretty simple to use after you open it.

The Windows defrag sucks balls, so I'd recommend downloading a different one. I use O&O Defrag 2000 Lite. You can get it at www.majorgeeks.com

click start menu, all programs>accessories>system tools>defragment

then from the newly opened window select the drive you want to defrag for example drive C or drive D then click on the defragment button below to start the process.

lol, wow, it really is simple

thanks guys, and i'll look at that Defrag Lite thing after i use the Window's one first

it may not be good, but it'll probably make my computer faster than 44% or whatever

If this is your first time after 4 years, and you have a pretty big disk, then it will probably take around 4 hours to finish But it's worth it, in the end. (not if your disk is stuffed though)

Better to use a seperate defrag software. They're usually faster and better. Try: IOBit Smart Defrag

And that means what?

What is wrong with Windows Defrag? Does it just take a shit load longer?

Anybody know of some good freeware Defrag programs? I think I had one lying around on here somewhere but I remember checking and it said nope, u don't need to defrag.
