Genius' thread got me this idea. What are your "must-see" movies? To keep this from being too clogged up, let's get 3 per genre. (I didn't add horror because I don't watch horror movies)

Crime:
Ocean's Series
The Italian Job
Swordfish

Drama:
Lord of War
Children of Men
Bourne Series

Action:
Pulp Fiction
Sin City
Fight Club

Comedies:
Grosse Point Blanke
Office Space
Liar, Liar

Parodies:
Most Mel Brooks Movies
Scary Movie Series (except 4)
Not Another Teen Movie

ummmm...for action, i would include 300...how do you NOT include that great epic story. it exudes man-ism out of its pores.

300 looked really artificial. But the whole point of this thread is you bringing in your own opinion/list - let's see it!

i agree.  300 was contrived, and almost like it was too animated for me.

Too artsy.

Enemy at the Gates is phenomenal, I agree.

Another must-see drama is Bless the Child.  It flew under the radar but is a great film.

I think you are thinking of something else when you said 10 things I hate about you. That's just a teen comedy, not really a parody.

Maybe so. I was thinking of the movie that made fun of teen comedies in general.

Mr. Brooks

I'm not sure what category it would fit in. It's almost like a psychological thriller.

And for parodies, how does your list not have Airplane! or Naked Gun? Or Hot Shots?

Also, did you know Airplane! is a nearly word-for-word remake of another movie called Zero Hour!? Except that Zero Hour! was not a comedy, so all the stupid lines from Airplane were said totally serious in the other movie. There's a video on youtube I think that compares the two, but I can't find it.

Just did more searching, I think it might have been removed.

I guess I simply haven't seen them yet. And you were right about the name, cheers. Add them to your own list and make me see them

I don't have really have any suggestions except maybe the lord of the rings trilogy, but maybe expand to 5-6 movies per genre, because 3 sound not so much and definitely when more people are gonna post.
