Okay so here is the problem. my monitor started to make some weird noise when displaying in 1280 x 1024...started about 3 day ago, the sound is some kind of ultrasound i would say....if any of you heard about a device that can emit sound to annoy kids without adults noticing it, it sound the same as that, if any of dont know what im talking about, go see on this site http://www.ochenk.com/entry.php?id=63 and download the Sample 2.

Well anyway, is there anything i can do to stop this damn sound, except using a bigger display than 1280 x 1024?!?.

Thanks in advance to any one willing to try and help!

I'm sorry I cant help you with your monitor, but is it bad that I can't even hear 15000 hertz and i'm 18?
If you dont hear the Sample 2 from the site at all, its not bad, but it does mean that your ears are a little less "good" than the "normal" one i guess. Dont worry with that, i would pay a good 10$ to be able NOT to hear the frequency that my monitor do right now.

Little update on it, It dont do it full time anymore...but still make it sometime, just enough to piss me off.

what kind of monitor are we talking about?
If it's a CRT, give it a wallop on the side. That fixed most of the issues with mine.

ya that's the one. Try hitting either the top or side though. It's normal for CRT displays to make that sort of noise on startup, it's the cathodic tube enrgizing, but if it's not going away, then maybe try degaussing it (should be able to do that by using the small buttons on the bottom (menu-degauss or w/e) if not, then get a new one. CRTs are usually better for gaming, fyi.

If not that mentioned above ^^
It could be the coils resonating, there's some kind of spray sold in electronic stores (don't know the name of it) that you can spray on them to change their resonating frequency and get rid of the sound. I wouldn't recommend opening the monitor and doing it your self though if you aren't 100% sure what you're doing. You could go ask some stores if they'd do it for you if you don't dare to do it, if it really bothers you.

Well, it could be the power supply of the monitor giving up.

That might be the most annoying sound I've ever heard.  I almost tore my headphones in two.

Oh gosh that sound is horrible.  I loaded the sound, used my remote control speaker volume thingy, and the moment I turned the dial the sound hit my ears like some really bad aftershock from a flashbang or something.

The funny bit is that at http://www.jimmyr.com/blog/hearingloss.html , having true pitch, I can tell the notes that the frequencies play if I can hear them.

This could really be the problem, i know that normally when it was doing this damn sound i just had to move the power cord into the socket behind the monitor to make it stop, but it seem like it wont do it anymore...good things now the sound is not anymore full time, but i still can hear it every 5-10 seconds :S
