Will Smith has stunned the world by declaring that even Nazi dictator Adolf Hitler was essentially a "good" person.

The Men In Black star, 39, is determined to see the best in people, and is convinced the former German leader did not fully understand the extent of the pain and suffering his actions would cause during his time in power in the 1930s and '40s.

He says, "Even Hitler didn't wake up going, 'Let me do the most evil thing I can do today'.

"I think he woke up in the morning and using a twisted, backwards logic, he set out to do what he thought was 'good'. Stuff like that just needs reprogramming."

Hitler's totalitarian leadership as Fuhrer during 1934 until his eventual suicide in 1945 resulted in the persecution of an estimated six million Jews in the Holocaust, and his invasion of Poland in 1939 led to the start of the Second World War.

I don't like how they put sentences of these sort in. If you don't know what hitler did you don't read news either, so they're not putting the sentence in for those people. The only other thing left is that it's trying to say "oooh hitler was baaaaddd, wtf is wrong with will", I'll make my own opinion thank you.

Well what if I thought, oh yeah I should kill all of the Americans because I think its a good thing to do its a right thing to do in my mind. Well according to my logic it would be fine but according to ethics and morality its wrong. Same applies to Hitler it was wrong what he did not matter which way you look at it.

I've had this debate with my German teacher.

While we both believe Hitler caused unprecedented damage to the world, killed millions and was essentially a madman, he also managed to turn Germany around following WWI.

While people like Stressemann did wonders, he turned Germany around from a piss poor country, with huge economic & social problems, to a strong country.

It could also be said that without Hitler, Germany would be no more advanced in the world today than say, Poland or Hungary.

Well a lot of their greatness today is due to the loans they got after ww2 to build theire country up again.
They had like the most advanced industrie of everything for like a few decades? I don't know if hitler did much good than just make a war, lose and get loans.

Again, this good imho in no way outweighs the bad stuff that happend from 33-45.
