I have watched a few videos of BF2 and when they bailed out of an air vehical and started free falling,   they pushed and hold something,  to make this happen,   any ideas on how to do this???

it's an animation, u start to do that too when about 1 second later when u drop, ur gun disappears as a sign of that u can open ur parachute.

You mean this one?

Click here proof is in the pudding

I just tried it after watching one of the stunt vids, thought it looked insanely hard, but it isn't. The jet can kill you though if it goes into a nutty spin. I also tried how many times can I get in and out, managed 4.

Once you get below a certain altitude tho, you fall faster than the jet making it pretty damn difficult to get back in, unless you're an uber parachutist (sp?).

Seems harder to get back in when you're in a server though, ping or something, easy on LAN to make a vid in battlrecorder like above, very short one attempt.

To answer the question, looking down makes you fall faster, looking up makes you fall slower, level with the horizon is about the same speed as the jet falling out of the sky.

Not to sound like a complete noob, but am I hearing sorrectly that while free falling, you can control your direction and your speed  while falling by using the WASD? Or are you guys busting his chops?

. . . . This is the first I'm hearing about this.

Skydiving is something I really fancied trying, how did you get into it, Do you have to try a tandem jump first or something, and is it an expensive hobby ?

I'm not sure that holding the direction keys does anything, but you can control what direction you're going. If you look down at a 45 degree angle, you can go pretty damn quick across the map. Just turn (mouse direction) to go the way you want. My framerate is impossible whilst recording with Fraps in game, and I don't think you can go into first person on battlerecorder.

Be careful though as the jet becomes utterly uncontrolable at a certain height and you can end up off the map in no time.

I generally go into the middle of the map, point the nose straight up, gain altitude then let go of thrust, once the jet's speed goes below 300 you can eject and fall with it.

For best effects, try damage the jet first to get it smoking, that's easier said than done, if you try damaging it before you take off, the bloody thing is repaired by the time you get it in the air. And you try damaging the jet a bit by clipping a tree or something, always goes booom.

Wake island is good for that, as the jet doesn't sit on the repair strip.

Me thinks me will be making a new vid.
