ok, so I have 47 different items in my task manager on startup, is there a way I can limit my boot up programs? or add/remove them? also is there a way I can copy and paste them and someone might be good enough to tell me how much sh!t is on there?

Thanks all in advance!

Assuming it's your computer...

control panel > administrative tools > services

There's a lot of programs with an automatic start up that can be changed to manual or even disabled. You just have to be careful. Do one or two items every few days and make a list. If it's a new computer, make sure you strip all the bullshit programs off that manufactures put on. If you're pretty good with your computer, disable all of the automatic update programs, then do them manually once a month.

Some garbage from services might include:

Clipbook
Mesenger
Network DDE (2)
Task scheduler
Wireless blah blah
Windows Time

What do you mean by "ALL THAT SHIT"

Disabling all services would be very bad

Disabling ALL Start-up items is bad, anti-virus and the like is in there

Clarify some more, or post a shot of your task manager services

all that shit was just crap.all the system files are there, and I even checked online to see what I was diableing. what I ended up doing is RE-enableing them and uninstalling the things I don't need and removing all the junk that I know for sure I dont need. like thoes damned spyware deals and extra music modifying/mixing/BS that comes extra.

boot up time is much faster now and windows 'feels' cleaner.
lol thanks for the command TriggerHappy998!

and thanks to all that posted.

If you really need to clean out your startup menu, try my absolutely bulletproof method.

1: Make a Dos boot disk, or use your windows cd repair console.

2: type: format c:

3: press y when prompted.

4: Sit back and watch all those annoying startup programs disappear...

Using some kind of high powered magnetic field in close proximity to your hard drive also works.
