In fact, I agree with him, Hitler probably thought he was doing the right thing.

Hitler did a lot of good for his country but did even worse for it later on. I believe his diet robbed him of the vitamins he needed for rational thought, I mean why the hell would you attack an ally whilst having a war on another front without having some major brain malfunction.
I get what will smith meant, at least it will be good media for his new movie.
