i kinda wanna find this out since i just got 1...see the percentage of ppl who have 1 who have had the problem

Red Ring of Death- Unrecoverable hardware failure that some 360's have where around the on switch it goes red and the game wont turn on or anything

Yes, I didnt read your post, and then you said something about the 360. And I was like "Oh yeah!" now i remember.

So yeah, basically a red ring on your 360 means that you 360 is dead, and oyu have to send it to Microsoft to get it fixed.

look it up google or youtube.

yea. my buddy's got it after about 1.5 yrs, but we sent it to microsoft, and they sent us a new one 3 weeks later for free.

they start out random, but after a few months, it happens more and more. then it will start having trouble reading perfectly good cd's, and eventually, it won't work at all.

Mine's never failed me and I've had it since december '06, but I did get the red ring of death. But it was from unplugging it while it was still on. No damage done.

A LOT of my friends have had theirs break though. Guess I'm just lucky.

Mine hasnt yet, and hopfully wont as its flashed :S

The main problem with it is the CPU fan is mounted on a sprung plate which causes the mobo to "bend".Theres an easy fix that if you remove the sprung plate and bolt the fan tightly to the mobo it tends not to overheat as much, so the shitty solder(?) wont melt and crack. but it does void the warranty

The problem with the blanket technique is it stresses the rest of your hardware ALOT, plus it dies again like a week later.

I got the freeze after 3 min on start up, I am assuming knowing computers that is a sign of a bad internal HD. But I sent it in and they just gave me a new one, after all most of the time its cheaper to do it that way.

I got a 360 today, and 3 red rings came up, but i hadn't plugged the damn thing in properly XD. now it works. brill console. now i gotta get some decent games, Reccomendations? i wanna get Assasins creed and FIFA 08.

Nope, not at all and I got mine in April of 2005. The only problem I've ever had was playing Oblivion, it froze up like 4 to 6 times, but that's it. Restart and continued to play... Great system
