Just search around the forum here, there are a lot of old Threads about the G5 with all its pros and cons. (not a lot of cons im my opinion but check it out anyway)
Sidenote : Before buying a mouse, find a store that has them on display, so you can try them out. Everybodys hand is a bit different.

Yes, I got the G5 and it is great in game or for daily use it has never given me any problems whatsoever.

I cuddle up with my G5 as I fall asleep each night.
It has a different texture cord than most mice. It prevents it from snagging on the back of your desk. Well-designed, imo.

Yes, get the G5, I have it and I love it. I've never used an MX518 before though but I play my best with the G5.
I own the G7 so I wouldn't know about the G5 but go for it.
Hmm so?The_Sniper_NM wrote:

Comes with an extra battery so when 1 runs empty you can switch to the other in a second.
stay with the MX518. seriously. it really is the best mouse put on God's Green Earth
Used to have a wireless mouse, even with the extra battery, I'd still run out in karkand or something, and have to go through 15 secs of noobishness. Got G5, and it owns.Chou wrote:

Razer Copperhead if you can get used to a new mouse shape. It's the best.
G5 if you like "classic" mouse shapes. I recommended it to my friend and I have to say, it's pretty good.

g7 is win because 7 second battery change, plus indicators, plus only one button to keep track of, plus no wires, and the wireless is like 2.4 GHz and I can use it from downstairs (dont need to but thats how lagg-less and strong the signal is) plus a battery that lasts like 15 hours of gaming, plus two batteries. (charge one, use one)The_Sniper_NM wrote:

Since the G7 is just a wireless G5, it's total win. I have one.
