Well basically I've been given £100 to spend at pcworld, maplins or comet (all in the same area) and I just don't know what to get as i already have a good pc and the only things I would like to replace are the headset (as the mike doesn't work) and my monitor as its a 17" CRT (I need say no more). Now the thing is that pcworld don't sell the headset i want (Speedlink medusa 5.1 surround sound headset) but they do sell an awesome monitor I've been looking at, the samsung 22" pebble (just plain awesome really), sadly that's £209 at the moment and more at ebuyer and scan so should I get the monitor and owe the parents money or find something else, if so could someone suggest something good.

Thanks in advance for helping a lazy geek out.

Watch for after Christmas sales on monitors and don't set your heart on one certain model.

I got a 22" Westinghouse 3WS  for $200 US last week.  Isn't that roughly 100 Pounds?

I just went from a 17" to the 22 and couldn't be happier, at least not until my new viseo card gets here on Friday

if it was me, I'd definately go for the monitor. But as pike says, it may be worth waiting a day or two for the sales to kick in.

Ps. Posted from iPod touch

What difference is there between the syncmasters and the pebbles as the pebble was more expensive on ebuyer though they both had the same specs?

Well due to lack of stock in pcworld of the syncmaster it looks like i'll be getting a pebble as its actually £15 cheaper, I would normally have got the syncmaster for the same price as the pebble on ebuyer but the soonest they can deliver is the 31st and still they would charge for next day delivery so sod that.

Thanks to you all for your help.

Five days isn't really that long for something you'll be looking at for probably at least a year.

I think the Pebble is a better quality panel. The 2ms Syncmaster panels are quite low grade. In fact, be wary of any panels with 2ms response, since they tend to have poor colour reproduction (sometimes even 6-bit per channel with dithering - yuck).

I have the pebble, it's actually the same style as the R87/R88 HDTVs, but smaller, obviously.

1 £ is about 2 $, so it's more around 80 more dollars. ~50% more is a pretty big jump.

Whilst that is true, it doesn't take into account purchasing parities (basically, $2 will buy you more than £1 - despite the exchange rate), which mean stuff in the UK is even more expensive.

PC World sucks for buying ready made PC's, get some accessories for your PC

I didn't get a ready built pc as I already built my own a while ago, I did get the pebble, though what I didn't know was that it is a syncmaster but its just called a pebble. Anyone know of any tweaking software which helps get the best from them?
