Nvidia Quadro FX 550 ( i think it's 128mb) ---playing with this one
Or
Nvidia GeForce 6200 ( I think it's 256mb) --- it's in the other computer
Thanks

Bingo. GeForce will serve you much better.ceslayer23 wrote:

but you can still game on it. There shouldn't be much of a difference FPS wiseceslayer23 wrote:

the optimization is done mainly on the driver level though. The way I understand it both (geforce & quadro) are pretty much the same hardware wise, but on the geforce OpenGL functionality is crippled. For the quadros the directX functionality is not removed. Even if the fx550 doesn't perform as good as a 6600 (due to bad optimization) it should still be better than a 6200, which has next to no power. no?Scorpion0x17 wrote:
Tricky one to answer actually max, Quadro's are optimized for OpenGL, whereas GeForce's are optimized for DirectX, in very simplistic terms.
I think they'll be close, but, a_reborn_vetaran, are the rest of the specs of the two machines equivalent?
Any other variations in system configurations will introduce their own variability into the equation.
Well, the computer with the FX is a lot better then the one with the GeForce.Scorpion0x17 wrote:

Mostly gaming (for me then )Bell wrote:

Well, my problem is that I don't know HOW to switch those vid cards... (I'm just 16 and I don't know anything about hardware replacements)Scorpion0x17 wrote:

I got the impression you've got two machines, one for each of the afformentioned video cards - if that is the case, can't you just try it?
Pull out the old card (careful, there's a little tab you need to press in).a_reborn_vetaran wrote:

Not forgetting to disconnect/reconnect the power connectors as you go, of course.Bertster7 wrote:

Push in new card.
Job done. Now you just install drivers and away you go.
Do either of them have power connectors?Scorpion0x17 wrote:

Not 100% sure either way. Shoulda put an "if required" on the end of that.Bertster7 wrote:

From what I remember, neither do.
