Yeh, I was sick of looking through my viewing window of my Antec Nine hundred and seeing all those dratted cables

So I spent two hours making it all look nice and pretty and now I have a problem. When i'm surfing the net, my CPU temperature ranges from 45 degrees C to 55. Isn't this too hot? Before it didn't got above 38! So I play BF2 and its at 57 - 62

I have put a few wires around my heatsink at the top of the motherboard to keep them outta the way but they are no where near the fan or not resting on the actual heatsink itself so I donno if that has anything to do with it.  Oh and I have put my exhaust and rear fans on medium, before they were on low.

Any suggestions?

EDIT:

Can't help unless we can see what's going on around your heatsink.

Also, I'm interested to see how your case looks, now that you've cleaned it up. I just tried to clean mine up a few weeks ago and it turned out.....ok.

I haven't checked the temps as I took out the only thing that could give me heat issues - 8800gt/gts cards.

I would assume its better as the IDE cables are no longer blocking the incoming air flow.

I was thinking of getting that Zalaman cooler

Is it any good?

Thanks, but It doesn't compare to the clean up jobs I found on the web that I was trying to mimick

With the way the antec is designed, you basically have to cut holes in the case behind the motherboard with a dremel and send them through there.

Zalman cooler is quiet and cools nicely.

Nice send me that link on how to do it and its a good idea, drilling holes but I can't be bothered taking my motherboard out!

Is this your cooler?

After installing a new sound-card today, I took a look at my previous cable management. I have the same case as you, and my temps hover around mid-20's (obviously around 40-50 degrees on the PSU). Cable management does by no means imply that your performance will decrease. If anything, it should increase! I'm not sure what has happened in your example, but clearly some airflow is being blocked, or your cables are interfering with some fan / device in some way or other. At the moment I have all of my cables wrapped tightly in a nice anti-static coil that runs through my case, and my GTX wires are tucked neatly in between each PCI bus, running along the motherboard. Neat, tidy, and icy cool!

Yeah, I believe that's the same one I've got. The only annoying thing with the cooler is that you have to take the motherboard out partially to install it. I'm not sure if others are easier to install.

Thanks thats helped.

I think I need to re- do it, unplug all the cables, and sort it

No problem. However, do be aware that I have a different cooler. I currently use a Tuniq Tower on medium-high RPM settings. So, don't necessarily aim for my exact temperatures! Be your own judge, and try to aim for the average temperatures that you experienced before you made the changes.

This is my mess:

https://img80.imageshack.us/img80/9373/imgp1711mk9.jpg

The cables from my power supply can only just reach and are really stiff         unless there's a really clever way of doing it I don't know about....

My power supply has huge, hard moving cables. It's a good PSU, but it's not good for cable management.
