Sometimes (maybe 1 out of 12 times) when i join a server and use the zoom, the cursor wont stop moving when I stop moving the mouse. In other words: I move the mouse to the right and stop. But the cursor continues moving to the right half a second which makes it impossible to aim. When I aim without zoom everything works fine. I play in low detailed mode and i got no lags (ping ~55). Once or twice i had this problem without zooming and when i used the zoom, it was gone there. Usually this strange "lag" disappears when i restart BF2 once....sometimes I need to restart it even twice........

I got an Athlon 3000+ with 1 gig RAM + NVIDIA FX5900XT so its no performance problem. The game runs very very fast in low detailed mode. I ve also installed the video drivers on the BF2 cd.

The main reason why i m posting this is to ask around if other people have this problem too or if its just me. I dont really think anyone could help me fix it (well u can try if u want to).

You're definitely not on your own with that problem, I do get it from time to time too. But sorry, I have absolutely no clue why it occurs...but as it happens only occasionally for me, I don't care too much about it...

hahaha you got the older type optical mouse? well i do mine does it too.. even on desktop when i just leave it sit there it slowly bops across the screen. tho i have not noticed it in game play while aiming, proberly cause i never stop moving my mouse, mine only seems to do it when its sitting still...

apparently has something to do with the lights and how the older optical mouses work im not to sure on that heard it somewhere tho, and apparently the newer opticals work differently and have fixed problems such as this.

but thats just what i heard.

Yeah that's it I guess. Got my mouse ages ago, should probably get a new one.

To solve this issue get a mouse pad that is larger so it can take the massive amount of movement you do. There are many gamer type mouse pads out there. Also they have just enough color texture difference on them that the optical mouse picks up movement much cleaner. Much of the deviation in older optical mice is because we use them on desks that are uniform in color and have little color texture difference. Much harder for the mouse to pick up slight movement and even stopping.

Of course they have new laser mice out now but I still see no reason what so ever to get one unless you are using it for uber graphical drawings. For game play people say they are better but really I think it's the $50 price tag and their subconcious justifying the cost in my opinion.

No i do not think thats it because: I ve got a 1337 pr0gam0r mousepad (steelpad) and my mouse works fine in other games like cs-source. The mouse cant be the problem since as i ve said before this "lag" disappears when i dont use zoom. Why would my mouse stop working right only while playing bf2 and ONLY in zoom and ONLY sometimes. Also it wouldnt make sense that restarting BF2 can stop the prob.
Well thx anyway but thats not it i think.

well fair enough but i think youll find it is

i think if this was an ingame coding issue alot more people would have complained about it by now...
im not a programmer but id assume it would be very difficult to accidently make something like this happen in a game which is program related.
