Saw the movie, thought it was ok. In my opinion it was just a cross between Blade and Resident Evil. As for the explosion at the end, he was in a science lab, it was an oxygen rich environment. The explosion was right with what would have happened had a grenade gone off down there.

I liked it, except from a couple of things; It was way too short, and it was way to cliché at places. And the scene where he crawls away from Fred and the zombies is just bad according to me. He could move way faster than he did.
The idea of any hi-fi system is to reproduce the source material as faithfully as possible, and to deliberately add distortion to everything you hear (due to amplifier deficiencies) because it sounds 'nice' is simply not high fidelity. If that is what you want to hear then there is no problem with that, but by adding so much additional material (by way of harmonics and intermodulation) you have a tailored sound system, not a hi-fi. - Rod Elliot, ESP

It was hollywood spewl. Only Will Smith saved it from being utter fail. His mesmerising performance saved teh day for me. But never again will I watch that crap. The infected actually made me feel sorry for them, the reverse of what I was meant to feel : fear.

I didn't like it. The whole movie up until the woman came was boring, and then she started talking about god and all that, and then it was over.

I clearly said I wanted a ticket for American Gangster, turns out she gave me I Am Legend, didn't see that one before anyway so no big deal. I really did enjoy the movie, loved the dog To bad it died, though there are some flaws in the movie, IF YOU HAVEN'T SEEN THE MOVIE, PLEASE LOOK AWAY That he cut himself loose, he lands on his knive and he has to crawl, but suddenly he gets up and runs, kinda weird. Rest of the movie was just great

Spoilers here, don't hate.

This movie was saved solely by Will Smith. Probaly his best acting ever. That's about all it had going for it. This movie really looked great, and had so much potential, but what you ended up getting was an hour and fifteen minutes of drawn out details of how his life over the past three years has been, all explained to an unsatisfying extent over the course of two days, followed by the last fifteen to twenty minutes steam rolling over the established pace, tying up 90% of the plot and the loose ends in the last 10% of the movie, making it seem extraordinarily rushed. I realise that it has some relevance to the story that the critical events should happen in quick succession, but it just came off seeming like a half-assed rushjob disconnected from the first seventy-five minutes.

They did a decent job of avoiding the typical subhuman intelligence of zombie movie protagonists by giving Will Smith's character the benefit of an extensive array of defences and failsafes to combat the hordes of infected people, but made a few very critical mistakes that could easily have been avoided. (Why didn't the guy have flooding UV lights in his home?)

I really don't know how to feel about this movie. I'm disappointed about it as a whole, but the individual parts were great. If they could have gone with just one pace and one theme throughout the movie, it would definitely have found its way to my collection.

It seems that inconsistencies in the film (e.g. no UV flooding lights in home) are explained and covered in the novel. In the novel, the protagonist earns a legendary status because he is so extremely proficient at killing vampires and the currently living. Everyone is afraid of him, and he is a no-bullshit effective ass-kicker. Because they moved in such a different direction for the Hollywood version, it comes as no surprise to me that there are flaws and questions arising from the character-- Hollywood script-writers have nothing on classic literature.

Why did he have to kill his dog? Well, it's because canines are immune to the airborne virus, but not to physical contact. When his dog tried to defend him from the rabid Resident Evil mutts, he obviously got into a scrap and was bitten / mauled etc. I won't flesh out this spoiler with the details of what, when, where, how etc. You can watch the film yourself. But the dog-killing is so predictable, and for what it's worth- it is plausible within the context of the film.

The only bit I didn't get is when "Fred" is standing outside. Who put him there? I appreciate he hasn't been in contact with humans and all but why was "Fred" there? And why would he shoot him if he thought he was real anyway? And who made that trap that ties him up? Did he fall into his own trap?

Questions marks?

The zompires/darkseekers got smarter and laid a trap for him.

He shot him because he was confused and was hallucinating.
