Just watched a race from this series on SPEED channel and the action was so much fun to watch. From what I could gather they were racing at Bathurst. Anyone else a fan? I also enjoy watching the DTM races.
Yep they are quite nice actgually Bathurst is great for racing!
any type of racing is better than NASHITCAR
Dear God please let my karma one day reach 100, whether it be tomorrow or 1000 years in the future i want it to happen.
That title made me instantly think of the Vauxhall Monaro, I wish they sold that car over here

I may have to acquire a minimal taste for NASCAR if I do wind up going to school in Daytona Beach, however.

Though it may be popular to bash NASCAR, the skill involved cannot be denied as F1 drivers come in and fail to dominate the sport. Each type of racing requires a different type of skill. Personally I enjoy all types of auto racing from GT, V8 Supercar, F1 to NASCAR and drag racing.

Yeh, I was a massive fan untill Peter Brock died, then the sport lost it's "old school" appeal. My old man went to school with him or something, so we got to go into the promoters tents at races and have lunch with him
Holden doesn't exist outside of Oz it's a Vauxhall to the rest of the world, apart from bits of Europe where it'd be an OpelNappy wrote:

Going to races is about drinking beer and being around race cars.

The car is sold in three places. Australia, the UK and America.twiistaaa wrote:

In Australia it is the original version of the car, therefore it is the Holden Monaro.
In the UK it is the Vauxhall Monaro, and is a slightly tamed version of the Holden. Also sold is the VXR version.
In the US, it is the Pontiac GTO. Very different to the others, less power, cornering ability, speed etc. Bollocks, in other words.
Holden

Vauxhall VXR

Pontiac

yeah, but America was too stupid for the GTO...they thought it wasn't a muscle car because it just looked like an average sedan with a bigger engine.
I hear they are good fun to drive and handle well too.

In any case, the Fords/Holdens they race in V8 Supercars are near identical, and are anything but a representation of how good each brand is.
That said,
Ford>all

My state was founded by Batman. Your opinion is invalid.
The UK version of the monaro looks the best
This man, he knows.Cheez wrote:

Dont get too attached to the Monaro/ VXR/GTO as Holden doesnt make them anymore, so you wont get them OS either. Have to wait for the new Camaro (based on our Commodore).
I get a bit bored of V8 Supercars as there isnt much variety ( As Cheez said Holden/Ford are pretty much the same). I prefer Rally driving. Bulk action, drivers with huge talent, they have to do their own dirty work if the car breaks down.
Good stuff

Never watched an entire (flag to flag) race from the series. I have however watched several "chunks" of races. Good stuff it is. And the occasional roo bounding onto the track always keeps things interesting hehe.
On a side note, didnt Marcus Ambrose come from this series to race in the Nationwide (formerly Busch) series? I watched him carefully last season, the man has talent, without a doubt. He deserves a shot at a Cup ride imo. Rumor has it he will drive a limited schedule for the Wood Bro. in the #21 Ford. He has, still yet much to learn, but I think he'll be around for a while and will do well.
I can only assume there are other drivers in V8 Supercar that are of equal or better talent. Australia should be proud of this series.

In the UK it's called the Vauxhall VXR8. And where did you get Camaro from?Burwhale the Avenger wrote:
