I plan on buying one of these myself with my tax refund so would also like to know which to choose.

I know I would choose the Evga over the club3d just because I have owned Evgas' in the past and had no problems with them.

Make sure you buy the 512Mb version and not the 256MB is all I know

I'd say eVGA as wel.  They have a great customer service reputation, not knocking club3d am sure theres is good to.  Plus with the eVGA you have that step up programe, and, well, it is what I would choose out of the four (with nvidia products I tend to buy, BFG, eVGA or XFX).

Can someone please briefly explain exactly what the EVGA step-up program is?  Do you get the new card for free or just discounted?  Do you get to pick the new card?  etc.

Don't go with MSI . . All I've heard is bad things.

eVga are the way to go.

Discounted.

The way it works is that you have to buy the new card first, then send in your old card and a receipt (of the new card) and then they will refund you some money.

Basically.

I couldnt get the whole PCI 2.0 shit, so i went with 8600GTS over clocked.

Really just get the cheapest. They're all based off Nvidia's base design. You're really just paying for brand name, a free game or two and maybe a slight difference in clock speeds depending on the OC editions. Saying that though, good companies are a well known way to get some cheap insurance.

Evga, for the Step-up (which lets you upgrade within 90 days to a better card, discounting the price you paid for the original), unlimited warranty, and supreme customer service. I can honestly say I haven't had better customer service than with Evga.

You shouldn't have done that. PCI-e 2.0 doesn't matter. Try to return it if at all possible and get an HD3850, HD3870, or the 8800GT.

You do know that PCI 2.0 works with any PCI-Express x16 slot, right?

And it doesn't even work any less >.< I still wonder if PCIe 2.0 isn't just a marketing trick, as they didnt reach the full PCIe x16 bandwidth yet

If you can get a hold of a BFG, do it. It's a US company though so you may not be able to. Go for EVGA otherwise.

Cheap hardware makes for crappy hardware and crappy support.

When you say cheapest brand are we talking about the same thing? I mean don't buy the lowest price card because of price alone, but if we're at some misunderstanding please explain.

No shit - but all the 8800GT's are the same. The only thing that is different is the sticker along with the warranty.
