Good evening, been busying away at this for, just over two days now and I am officially out of ideas other than 'ITS FUCKED'
I bought a Yamaha RV-3800 amplifer just over two months ago, and coupled it to a bose acoustamas series speaker system. Worked great, the sound is fantastic and I was MORE than pleased with my purchase. However, I then descided to replace the speakers, over the last year I have been working to finishing off a pretty mean home theatre system (I love my movies). Can't remember the model number of the speakers right now, but I think that is negligable.
My proplem is, the rear channels are simply not working.
Now, I first tried swaping back in my bose set. They still work. I then Tried plugging the new speakers into my old Denon 3802 amp, they all work there (in 5.1). Yet, when I try putting all of them into the Yamaha, and have 7.1 configured, I get no rear channel sound what so ever. And I have checked and checked, even went through about 5 different DVD's just incase the one I was using didnt utilise much rear channel audio (if any). And nada.
So, it cant be the speakers, since they work fine in the Denon. It cant be the amp per say, because it can run the Bose ones fine (in 6.1). As soon as I plug it up to 7.1, and have either a Dolby Digital EX, or DTS-ex film on, the rear simply shuts off. Untill I am only getting the front left, front right, centre and sub woofer.
Any thoughts? There are loads and loads of menus in the amp, that, admitedly, I havent touched yet, but surely it should work in 7.1 out the box if the film supports it?
Apologies if my wording is confusing, pretty pissed as it is, if theres any confusion in what am asking then I would happily re word it
If anyone can point out an obvious mistake I might of made, or resolution, then that would be really great. But as I said to begin with, I have went over it time and time again, and luckily I have the means to trouble shoot. It just seems as thought the amp doesnt like the new speakers, somehow.
