Something tells me, these prices everyone is dealing out isnt quiite what the OP had in mind 8-)?  Or maybe that is just me.

You are not alone!
LOL!  Not his fault though really, the prices of these mega machines are pretty ludacris.

Ok, newest demanding games. I've set this up few days ago, think it applies to you too. I assume you already have a monitor so you can scratch that from the following list of components. Without the monitor it should be roughly 800 pounds or a bit less, and you will be able to handle games fine. No Crysis on max settings for you though, but you'll get to medium/high in it and with custom tweaks even higher, ah what the hell idk if you even want to play Crysis. The rest of games can be maxed out though.

Good pick on the HDD! Its not as expensive as the Raptor but close to its performance.

You'll need more then that.

For £800 you can get a damn good computer but not a top of the top end bragging rights machine.

Saying anything less means you can at the 1000 mark and above.

Show me a £1000 or $2000 computer, hell make it twice that cost that can run Crysis (smoothly) on very high at 1600x1200.

Seems to be the benchmark, I don't understand why people can't just lower the resolution two notches.

Once Quad SLI comes around it'll be a realistic goal.

It seems that by the time you think need sli, a new card comes out thats as fast as two of its predecessors.

Where is the bottleneck with crysis anyway?

There is no particular bottleneck with Crysis. It just needs all round better HW. It benefits from up to 8GB of memory (faster the better), Even OC'd 3.33GHz Quad core Yorkfields still restrict it CPU side and no GPU can get close to running it maxed out in high res, even 3x8800 Ultras in SLI only manage in the 30FPS range, even without any AA.

BTW Quad SLI is a bad idea and the scalability of tri-SLI means that'll be the way they go for the foreseeable future.
