Any reccomendations?

It needs to be reliable and high performance. (For an XP system.)

OK. Any other suggestions or is that the one to go for?

And will it work with an AMD Processor?

It'll work as long as you ahve a PCI slot. That's the most standard networks card in the world. Even some AMD motherboards have them integrated

Just buy it. Your modem is more limiting than your networks card.
The idea of any hi-fi system is to reproduce the source material as faithfully as possible, and to deliberately add distortion to everything you hear (due to amplifier deficiencies) because it sounds 'nice' is simply not high fidelity. If that is what you want to hear then there is no problem with that, but by adding so much additional material (by way of harmonics and intermodulation) you have a tailored sound system, not a hi-fi. - Rod Elliot, ESP

The Killer NIC is a total crapshoot. Some people say they get massive performance increase, some say it did shit for them.

Seriously. At this point in time, if it's 100mb and has XP drivers, there's pretty much zero difference between a 10$ and 250$ nic card. Don't buy into the hype for 3ms better ping -- if you're lucky.

A regular NIC can do pretty much the same thing anyway.  Intel is definitely the best brand to go with according to the reviews.  They're fast, reliable, and extremely compatible.

So the first one is the best to go with? My Dad is the one buying it so it doesn't actually matter how much it costs...

There you go. Realtek chipset and all, so you can get it working on anything.
