Been toying with the idea for a while, am fairly confident in the parts I need, and how to build it (just the same as your gaming PC) although I do have a few questions:
Has anyone got a HTPC? What do you think of it? And would you recommend it?
More specfically, I understand theres no need for a mega video card in it, so what would be the best bet? 8600GT? HD 2600? When I look for benchmarks on cards, all I seem to get is frame rates in video games, which is what most people I guess want, but am looking for differences in picture etc or is that non identifiable?
I was looking at the Silverstone CM03 HTPC case, looks good imo, with the nice LCD display. Or would I be better off, buying a ready made machine, think alienware have them.
Anyone recommend a different case? It cant be much larger than the dimensions of the CM03, thats about as much space as I have.
Finially are there many issues that can come about unique to HTPC building? I am more than familair with gaming PC's and I doubt I will have much bother with this but am not so confident in the parts that are nescesary. Afterall, its not exactly the same as gaming PC ala 8800GTs and quad core CPU's. Am sure they would be great, but not nescesarily the wisest place to invest in.
Thanks
Martyn
