I started Downloading a torrent a couple days back...It was dirt slow but at least it was going.

So just last night the worthless computer restarted on me when I was sleeping. I woke up to the stopped download. When I try to resume the download all I get from my download client is "Active" and "Searching" Status (W/o actually downloading). When it does find like 1 or 2 peers, the status for that particular peer says Requesting, BUT IT NEVER CONNECTS!

What happened? I don't want to start the download up again because it already took me 2 days to get to 60%. Anyone know any possible solutions to jump start the download again?

What torrent client are you using?

Ugh...do you think it's the torrent or the client? Cause right now, I'm downloading the same torrent with a different client and it's going. However, the second download is starting from scratch which is a real turn-off cause the other one is over half-way done.

The one that crapped out on me at 60% is Shareaza.

The other one I just started up is muTorrent.

Shareaza was DLing at a slow but steady rate up until that unintended interruption (G'damn Window's Update rebooted the Computer automatically when I was sleeping).

Well, you've propably simply ran out of seeds.

Always check for seeds before yous start downloading.
The idea of any hi-fi system is to reproduce the source material as faithfully as possible, and to deliberately add distortion to everything you hear (due to amplifier deficiencies) because it sounds 'nice' is simply not high fidelity. If that is what you want to hear then there is no problem with that, but by adding so much additional material (by way of harmonics and intermodulation) you have a tailored sound system, not a hi-fi. - Rod Elliot, ESP

mutorrent? You mean microtorrent? (µtorrent)

Yes...that's what I meant. So is there anyway to boot back up the download that stopped at 60 something percent. It's also weird cause when I look at the torrent page (the web-page where I found the torrent), the Number of Seeders fluctuated at a ridiculously rate. (70 - 500)

If your comp restarted on its own it could have broke the file.
My computer restarted on me in the past while downloading and most the time I was unable to resume and almost always had to re-download the file.

try using a different client ... everyone would suggest something different. I have found azureus to be a total win. Make it (or any client that will resume) start with your system.

How many seeds were there when you started?

It's been a while since I used torrents, but I'm pretty sure there's a way to resume the download, even with a different client, did you try getting the faster client to save in the same place as where the half complete file is?

Just use another torrent and see how it goes.

Do you go through life making assumptions?

Maybe I'll try it someday.

Azureus huh? I'll keep that in mind for my next torrent.

The Micro-Torrent client has gotten me some ground on the DL. But yeah...I'm gonna lay off Shareaza when it comes to Torrents, it was never that great.

And no...I'm not saying what I'm downloading cause it's irrellevant to the topic.

go to google and type in PORT FORWARDING. find a website, find the program you are using, and forward your ports. My downloads w/o that were like 20kbs and after 250+ kbs.

As stated by your following post in this thread, it's obvious YOU assumed that he was downloading something illegally. There's NOTHING that proves that he's downloading something illegally but YOU think so, making you a troll and doing nothing to contribute to this thread.

Good idea. Like I said, another torrent's probably another choice. I very VERY rarely torrent but that's gotta be your problem.

This is the one and only real solution. You need forwarded ports (or being connectable), no matter which torrent-client you use.
In µtorrent there is a small symbol in the status bar: It can be either green (port properly forwarded), Yellow (checking if everything is alright) or red (port not forwarded). If it's red it means you can only download from or connect to people who have their port forwarded. If your icon is green you can connect to everyone seeding.

Use this site to make yourself connectable: http://www.portforward.com/
