XFX 680i Mobo and Thermaltake Max Orb

I have an XFX 680i Motherboard and a Thermaltake Max Orb cpu cooler.

I have done everything to a computer before besides installing a mobo/processor/cpu cooler. So im clueless as to how this thing fits, it says its supposed to fit on an LGA775 socket with its "Universal" retention plate. I dont see how this fucking thing is supposed to fit... pics coming in a few minutes.

You have to detach the motherboard, put a mounting bracket behind the mobo, then you should be able to figure out the rest.

Well, it came with these wack ass screws that connect to the universal plate. But they are a bitch to get on. My fingers are sore from trying to push these metal clips over the plastic plate.

I did get it installed, but i do wish they would have used screws and bolts to hold this monster of a CPU cooler to my mother board.
It uses plastic fasteners that you have to push down on then turn to get them to stay. It was a huge task and i was wishing i could just use some screws and a nut to do the same exact job -_-.

Just dont put a Heatsink on. Just leave it off you dont need it. Thats what i did for a month on my old P4 and it lasted.

If the 4 plastic heads are notched like the stock cooler then you push those in an use a flat head to give them a 1/4 turn. You cna verify by looking on the underside of the board if they are locked in.

Um.

Wow. Really? That'll not only kill your CPU but it'll probably melt it, killing your entire socket.

I did that when I really knew nothing about computers when I was first building my current rig. I'm glad I decided to put the heatsink on when I did. It's good I only left it off when I was testing it or it WOULD have melted.

I am using my brain. A screwdriver will help you push in those things more easily. It isn't because there aren't any screws that you can't use a screwdriver.
