Does anyone have any experience with DFI, MSI, or ABIT motherboards?
Had a DFI LANparty board, many options, great OCing.
Have a Abit 650i board, good OCing, standard cooling, many LED's.

DFI and MSI arent bad from what i hear. What chipset?

MSI is pretty good. My friend has an MSI board. He loves it.
I still prefer EVGA and ASUS though.

I have had a couple of ABit boards, good quality.
I believe all are good.
It's really hit and miss with some motherboards from my experience. My previous Asus board was good, but earlier this year one of their boards turned out to be garbage. Picked up an Abit board and everything was peachy.
If you find a board that has what you need for the right price, check out as many reviews as possible to get an idea of what to expect. But even then, it's still a gamble IMO.

Gigabyte is also a very good brand, just so you know.
I've got an ABit. Works great although OC'ing isn't perfect. Good but not perfect. I would suggest it to someone who is either new to OC'ing or doesn't bother because besides OC'ing it's great.
MSI has good customer service and their boards are a lot cheaper than some of the bigger brand names. Plenty of overclocking features as well.
I have an MSI I board in my old old computer. Evga in this one and Asus in the other. Never had any problems with any
They keep going out of stock with the Gigabyte board I want, and it keeps disappearing as well.nukchebi0 wrote:

But thanks for all the replies guys!
Don't get me started on MSI...
Their K7T series boards in 2001-2003: Would die after less than a year due to bad capacitors.
Their i915/925 boards would burn up after less than a year due to bad fans, or heatsinks that fall off.
Many of their own products just won't work togheter. And many more products by other manufacturers won't work.
My personal experience:
I buy a "Game with MSI power package" or something like that from a store, with an i915G motherboard and a 7900GT. Total price: 450€. I install the lot and it works for some time, but then I start having artifacts and alike. I open up my case to check what's wrong, and notice that the IDE connector on the motherboard has simply knocked off an oscillator from the graphics card, slowly frying the card.
I take contact with MSI telling them what had happened and asked for an RMA. They replied that it was my fault, and would refuse to RMA it. So, it's my fault that they sell me a package that won't work togheter. HOW FUCKING LOGICAL IS THAT?!
The board burned out after some time, and I'm on my second one, wich I got from a friend. This one wouldn't let any other PCIe cards than the ones from MSI fit, for some reason.
Get something, but not MSI. They're bullshit.

The idea of any hi-fi system is to reproduce the source material as faithfully as possible, and to deliberately add distortion to everything you hear (due to amplifier deficiencies) because it sounds 'nice' is simply not high fidelity. If that is what you want to hear then there is no problem with that, but by adding so much additional material (by way of harmonics and intermodulation) you have a tailored sound system, not a hi-fi. - Rod Elliot, ESP
I've had a few self-destructive MSI boards in my time. The last one I owned, an i865 based board, was the worst of the bunch. The substandard soldering on capacitors would oxidise and break apart after a few months of use. I ran the first board for a month or two after it started messing up by folding up a post-it and placing it between the board and a standoff in the top left corner, forcing the connection, but RMA'd it when this failed. Second and third boards had precisely the same problem, over a year after that particular model had been released. They ended up just giving me an ASUS board based on the same chipset.
I have an MSI. K9N 570 Force (SLI) great motherboard, been using it for over a year now and nothing to complain about.
