Christ, I could go on and on and on, but I think you get the point.  At least, I hope to hell you get the point.  I don't know how much money all his proposals would end up costing, but I know that in every example I cited there was more spending involved and liberties lost.  If you think Gravel and Paul are the same thing with the exception of one issue, you're 100% wrong.
Perhaps my comment about Gravel being a more realistic version of Paul didn't clue you in.  Gravel is certainly an advocate of much smaller government than most Democrats and even many Republicans.  I prefer him over Paul because he's not as radical, except for maybe the direct democracy part -- but I would figure a true Libertarian would favor more power to the people.

As I've said before, his beliefs in this area demonstrate serious problems in his logic, which affects his decision making process, which in turn...  affects me.  I'm not gonna lie to you though.  This was more of a case of the straw breaking the camel's back more than it was a single deal breaker.  As I spent more time researching Paul's positions, I noticed the extremity of his small government stances appeared less and less realistic when looking at the facts.  For example, the IRS is a necessary agency for collecting taxes.  You can't just abolish it.  Reforming it is a good idea though.

I love Ron Paul's "you make it you keep it" philosophy, and I'd love to have a President with his blend of Libertarian / Conservative ideas, but I happen to think the guy is fucking retarded, and even if you agree with my positions, if you think the world is flat, or 6,000 years old, or that we're all just here waiting for the Mothership to take us to Nirvana, or any similar crap, I can't bring myself to vote for you.

So tell me, what really happen in the world, and especially our country?  You are one of the most vocal supporters of Ron Paul on these forums, and you don't even live in the U.S.?  I can't quite grasp how you are able to understand the intricacies of our social and political system without at least being schooled on these things, much less interacting with the American public on a day-to-day basis (hint: posting on this forum and reading the responses contained herein is not interacting with the American public).

Perhaps you did not see the protests inside the U.S. against the invasion of Iraq - plenty people in the U.S. were and still are against the war.  There are still people around the world that believe the Earth is 6000 years old, does that mean the global community is comprised of idiots?

Posts like yours above really bring nothing to the table, because you just spout hyperbole and make retarded generalizations.  All it does is make people here who think outsiders hate America look smarter.

In my opinion, whats Ron Paul bring is something pretty new, something that is worth trying imo..  You are right, i'm not an american and doesnt undertand 1% of american politics but i still have a small idea of what the US is doing around the world (good and bad)

Just one exemple..  Cuba..   Ron Paul is the only one who is bringing the ideo of ending the sanctions against Cuba. What would happen in Cuba after that move?  Aren't you curious to find out?  They are no threat to the US.. the cold war is over and Castro is brain dead..

Same thing with Korea.. youve been there for 50 years !!  Japan? Germany?

I must admit, its the foreign policy of Dr Paul that i am most interested in but im still learning today how your system works and its pretty interesting..

Letting Some dying people smoke pot without the fear of being arrested!!

Ending the war on drugs!  pardonning a bunch of non violent criminal who are in your jails!!

just some points that make me think that that old guy is something new and refreshing.. Why not try something new, you will save a lot of money.

One thing I do like about Ron Paul is his foreign policy positions.  However, his ideals as far as the American Government are just that - ideals.  Sure, many (if not most) Americans think the War on Drugs is a waste of money; anyone that looks at the amount of aid we dump into Colombia and the lack of impact it has on the drug market while at the same time destroying arable land in Colombia could come to that conclusion.  Many people agree that lifting the economic boycott from Cuba is a good move, but there is a large Cuban faction that does not agree and spends copious amounts of money to make sure this is not realized.

There are a few problems with Ron Paul.  One reason is that his beliefs are a bit too radical.  One cannot simply destroy certain institutions within the government because they are inefficient - most of the time you have to reform the system from within.  There is a great distinction between state's rights and federalism, which Ron Paul seems to want to usurp on his way to his ultra-Libertarian la la land.  Another reason I will not vote for Ron Paul is the fact that he will actually have little say in implementing these changes.  Congress in America is in the same bed with industry just as much as prominent members of Presidential Administrations.  Ron Paul's ability to circumvent these relationships will be marginal at best.  The only way he would bring about change is by pandering to those who have vested interests in his way of thinking - basically fulfilling the role of a politician in modern America despite railing against it.  Another reason I will not vote for Ron Paul is his previous remarks concerning black people, regardless of his attempts at spinning the blame to his speechwriters, and his generally moral conservatism.

Ron Paul know that he will not be able to change all that without the approval of congress.. in fact the only thing he can do as commander in chief is move the troops around.

I think that IF Ron is elected, people in congress will start to realize that if they want to be reelected, they will have to start to think a little bit more like the old guy.  If the american people chose Ron Paul, will be a bad idea for the congress to block anything that Ron Paul try to do.  They will want to save their asses like any human being.
