AVG firewall problem

Just replaced my old anti virus software with AVG 7.5, went in easy enough, updated, and is scanning for virus at the moment.

However, the firewall is fucking intolerable, it is timing me out of every online application I care to mention. It's booting me off teamspeak every 60 seconds, and on my other web browser it is cancling the action. TS is set to allow, and any app that is being timed out is set the same, so I dont understand wtf its problem is? Anyone know what to do?

The internet is not even slightly one of my specialties, but, from my knowledge, is it conflicting with my router? I have a netgear 54mbps Wireless ADSL Modem router DG834Gv3. In built firewall? Something along those lines am sure, just wondering if its causing a problem there, or its simply the set up. Am not familiar enough with AVG to go messing around with the 'advanced' settings. So before I go tweaking round with that, anyone got any ideas?

AVG causes me problems all the time too, the firewall blocks my incomming emails with outlook until it timesout. Only solution is to disable it when checking emails.

Are you also running it at the same time as Nortons? They can often conflict each other too.

Nope no norton, though, now that I check my control pannel, windows firewall is on...

So, shall I disable windows and leave the AVG one on? Or take off AVG and leave windows?

I'd leave windows firewall on. There are hackers who will look for computers with it turned off, specifically. And windows firewall always prompts to allow or deny access.

Try disabling AVG firewall for now and see if the timeouts continue.

It seems to be whenever I run more than one app that has access to the net. I only had ts on there for the last 10 mins and never got booted. I just booted up AOL (yeah I know) and within 60seconds I get the ts 'your connection to the server has been terminated'. AND, AOL just stays on the blue screen, I cant use it.

I can run firefox (which am on now) and ts, but wtf is it blocking aol for :\ I dont see any difference between the profiles for AOL as firefox

I am not sure if AVG is similar to Zone Alarm, but go into Program Control and turn Program Control and Program Advisor off. You may need to open UDP port 8767 (inbound/outbound) for TS.
