Which CPU cooler?

Which one, disregard cost from decision. Been googling it, but wanted to see what opinions are here. Searches on bf2s turned up some older threads, want to see what stands true now.

I have the zalmann and an e6600 and my core temp is 43C after playing FSX for a good 55 minutes.

That's what I'm leaning toward after looking around more. I was worried about the weight but it looks like it will be fine since it comes with a beefy mounting bracket kit.

Yeah the weight really isn't an issue with the mobo backplate that comes with it, I've had it for quite some time now and haven't had a problem

Zalman. Temps dropped around 20% to sub 45 under max load on an e6750.

Installation however is a bitch, if you install the fan facing a certain direction you have to use a screwdriver at about a 70 degree angle, and since my PSU mounting bracket was just so, it was off another 20 degrees on the horizontal axis and it was nearly impossible to get in. The only way it got in was with an extra long 10" screw driver and a second person to hold the heat sink.

So performance is great, installation is suck, but hey we don't switch heat sinks because it's easy right?

I have had the zalman for the last year and it has worked great.

After comparing the ratings for both of those coolers, you couldn't go wrong with either of those products. If you're trying to save cash, go for the cheaper one. If not, get the one you think looks the best.

<3 Zalman, although you could probably do with just the 9500. That's what I have.

I've had my Freezer 7 Pro for a good three years now, and it still works a charm keeping my P4 Prescott cool. I strongly recommend it.

8 volts, SuperPI for an hour, never over 55C.

The idea of any hi-fi system is to reproduce the source material as faithfully as possible, and to deliberately add distortion to everything you hear (due to amplifier deficiencies) because it sounds 'nice' is simply not high fidelity. Neither. Thermaltake V1. <3 OC'd my E6600 to 3.2 GHz and it's at an awesome 35c.

But if you're only going with those two choices, the Zalman.

Tuniq Tower is good too, but it's HUGE. Looks like it's gonna rip a motherboard in half.

True not bad for the money, but it has the same pegs as the stock cooler, which I didn't like

Lucky you... after 2 years, it's not quiet at all anymore. The PWM goes like <whack whack whack whack> all the time. True, it's only at ~600rpm, but 10 <whack>'s per second are somewhat annoying...
I rather prefer fans with voltage-regulated speed nowadays. A decent 120mm fan is inaudible until ~1000rpm anyway, just find a neat heatsink (like the one I posted above) and it's be allright

I guess. I have 8 fans on high on my computer, so noise doesn't really bother me. Music is always louder.

The Freezer 7 Pro may have the same mounting pins as the stock, but these pins are engineered way better than those on the stock. It took me literally ten seconds to properly attach the heatsink, whereas I couldn't even attach the stock heatsink properly.

I thought that way (ignorantly) thinking it was gimmicky or marginally better until I got (some needed) back lash for saying that once in a post and actually did some research on the topic. Makes a substantal difference.

I ended up going with the Zalman because of the better mounting a subjectively less noise.

I was coaxed in getting the Thermalright ULTRA-120 Extreme, 1) but Newegg was out of stock + 2) i want all this stuff now + 3) I want to get my order from one place.
