Are you in a rush to get this? Wait till start of february to get the new Quad Cores. Cheaper and much better. No point in throwing out cash for the Q6600.
How much better are they going to be? I am not really in a rush just looking to buy very soon.
As in like 2x better.

The new one
Core 2 Quad Q9450        2667 MHz    2 × 6144 KiB    1333 MT/s    8x

The old one
Core 2 Quad Q6600                   2400MHz       2x4096KiB            1066MT/s        9x

Basically : Total annihilation.

@HITNRUN

I disagree, if anything 64-bit is the way to go.
64bit = 4GB + of RAM. Much safer bet. Plus, nearly all the niggles are ironed out now and the SP1 is coming out soon enough ( Feb )
OK then, i will wait and then add that to the setup drunken gave out.

If they get everything ironed out I would agree with you. As it stands, every person I know that has switched to 64 bit Vista ended up having so many compatibility issues they switched back to 32 bit. It is hella faster, but they never get things to work right.

Only because of having old components. All the ones Mikey would be installing would run perfectly with Vista.

No... All new state of the art expensive pretty shiny things.

Core 2 Quad extreme processors, 8800 GTX video cards, 650i MoBos, etc... They picked up Vista 64-bit with the new system...

I haven't any problems besides a printer from 2001 and Intels TAT.

And waiting for the new quad cores is definitely something you should do. Also, make sure you buy Evga for your video card, in case something better comes out in three months, you can step-up to the better card.

I HIGHLY recommend EVGA period. Their step up and their warranties are awesome. I have never had such good customer service...

EDIT: As in, buy a Video Card and A Mother Board from them if possible...
