Western Digital Passport II 320GB
Western Digital My Book2 Essential Edition 750GB
Western Digital My Book2 Studio Edition 500GB
Samsung SpinPoint F1 750GB

All in the same price range.

I'm looking to have all my documents on this hardrive, and all my programs on my current HD. External HDD would be best, as I can take it with me...

Pro's/Con's with the ones mentioned above?

why do you want an external HD? unless if you want to take your entire collection of everything with you when you go out regularly, just get an internal one.

what kind of hard drive do you have in your current rig, SATA or IDE?  Cuz if your still rollin with an IDE hard drive (the kind with the big bulky ribbon) then i'd buy a $60 Seagate 320gb SATA to throw in my rig then take out my old IDE hard drive and just buy an enclosure for it.  You can find a nice enclosure for around $20 or so.  with this scenario you've upgraded your rig and found use for your old hardware at the same time.  Plus your speeds will increase.  I just hate seeing people drop $100 plus on an external drive if they don't have to.  But if your already running with SATA drives in your rig then i'd go with what ever hard drive was rated highest on newegg and then check some other comparisons before i bought.  I've never had a problem with my western digital drives.  in fact i have a 120gb western digital ide drive in an enclosure that i use for my files.

It's preference at this point, One has a 32MB Cache buffer, the other a 16MB. Difference is probably negligible since it's an external and not your main drive.

I have a SATA in this PC atm.

I was thinking about going internal, but I don't have any more of those half-transparent power cables from my PSU

Why don't you just buy an internal drive and stick it in an external enclosure?  It's bound to be cheaper.

Western Digital My Book2 Studio Edition 500GB

Studio is just a tad better than essential, but if you desperately need the xtra 250 GB take essential, but WD no doubt ...

I've had a Western Digital My Book Essential Edition 250GB for over a year now and I've had no problems with it what so ever.  I know it's not one you listed but it's basically the same.  I get quite quick transfer speeds.

But you have must customization, and the ability to easily put the HDD in your computer if you need extra room

Edit: If you go this route, get a case that supports eSata.
